As we close in on the end of the school year with many students stressing about finals and finishing with good grades, our spring athletic programs are entering the final sprint towards their goals this season, with competitions with opposing schools in the area and soon competing in the California Interscholastic Federation League (CIF).
Currently, the Boys Swim Team is finishing their regular season with a League record of 4-0 and an overall record of 7-0, an amazing way to end their season. As of now, they have finished their League Finals, having to go against all the teams in their area, including San Clemente High School, Capistrano Valley High School and Tesoro High School, with Aliso placing second overall, just barely losing to San Clemente. For CIF, many of the boys have been selected to compete either in relays or individual events, hoping to score high in the upcoming competition against other schools throughout the state of California, with them all competing at Mt. SAC.
The Aliso Niguel Boys Lacrosse team just finished its season with a league record of 8-0 which made them league champions of the Sea View League. They finished with an overall record of 15-3. With these records, they have been highly ranked within the top 30 in California, qualifying the Wolverines for CIF Playoffs. The Wolverines made it through the first round of CIF, where they ended up beating Santa Barbara 14-7. Unfortunately, in the second round of CIF, the Wolverines lost in a very close match to Servite, where the score ended up being 12-8. This marks the end of a very great season in Aliso Niguel Lacrosse’s history, where they ended up going undefeated in league and won many titles. This season was definitely one of the best, and it has set up for more success in the future.
Varsity Player Ryder Lopez (10) comments, “It was a great season for the whole team, and it was unfortunate how we ended up losing, especially in CIF, but it was a great season for the program and hopefully for the next years with this team we can do as good or even better than we did this season”.
The Aliso Niguel Boys Baseball team has finished their long season of League with an overall record of 18-9-2 and a decent league record of 4-7-1, a great way to end the season, having to go against multiple tough opponents while also playing in long tournaments against Dana Hills High School, San Clemente High School, Capistrano Valley High School and many more, all within the South Coast League brackets. They have currently placed high enough to participate in this year’s CIF league, hopefully being able to perform well against teams that Aliso does not normally go against in the regular season.
This has been an amazing year of sports for Aliso Niguel, with many well-fought triumphs and hard-fought losses that have allowed these teams to learn and grow with one another. There are many high hopes and expectations for the next generation of players next year, and they are almost sure to surpass them.
