The Aliso Niguel Surf Team prepares for state finals in their 2026 season through consistent surfing and practices.
The team concluded their contests last year, during their 2025 season and are now just focusing on preparing for state finals in March. State finals will be held in Oceanside, from March 22-23.
The team surfs at various beaches typically three times a week, most frequently Strands Beach and Salt Creek. Closer to state finals, they plan to begin to practice closer to Oceanside to get a feel for the waves in that area.
Coach Mosier says, “Everybody’s just trying to surf as much as possible till then, that’s when obviously we decide who’s the best team in SoCal and everything…going against quite a few different schools.”
Ryder DeMichele (9) is an outstanding surfer who performed amazingly during the 2025 season, and is even receiving sponsorship from Hurley.
DeMichele says, “I am looking forward to competing in the State Championship and to do really good for our team and show that our team can beat other teams, like San Clemente.”
Madelyn Chao (12), one of the team captains alongside Ezekiel Gonzalez (12), also performed astoundingly during the 2025 season.
Chao says, “I’m looking forward to states and I hope our team gets far.”
Coach Mosier says, “[We are] just trying to get some bigger waves right now. We’re just waiting for some storms to make some and haven’t had any lately though.”
Through constant training and hard work, the team will continue to persevere to win state finals in March.
