This year’s Athlete Signing Day occurred during Wolverine+ on Nov 12, 2025, in the gym. Family, friends and coaches are invited to this important event to watch their star athletes sign the National Letter of Intent to their future colleges. This day is to celebrate each athlete for their athletic accomplishments, along with other achievements that have gotten them where they are today. The athletes who signed were Bree Carson (12), Tessa Cowsill (12), Kaley King (12) and Jaslene Massey (12).
This special day is organized by ASB, with various coaches, and is hosted by Coach Mashburn. He explained each athlete’s journey and their messages to those who supported them, along with mentioning their other notable achievements. Each athlete managed to maintain a very good GPA of 3.1 or higher, with Jaslene Massey maintaining a 4.6.
Bree Carson signed with Utah Valley for volleyball, Tessa Cowsill signed with Brigham Young University for her success in softball, Kaley King made her accomplishments through soccer and signed with the University of Idaho and Jaslene Massey broke records on our track and field team. She signed with the University of Oregon, a significant achievement for the athletics program.
Softball coach Baldwin describes this special event as “extremely important, as it honors the athletes and everything they have accomplished. The long hours and practices should not be overlooked, and Signing Day recognizes all of these hardships endured. I know this is a big day for all of them, so it’s great to be able to celebrate them.”
After all the athletes are seated at the conference table and Mashburn finishes his words, along with congratulating them, Dr. Mahindrakar goes up to the podium and also honors their achievements. Many pictures and videos are taken at this point, as this is a very monumental day in these girls’ lives.
After they sign with their respective colleges, there is time at the end for pictures, thank-yous and final words of congratulations.
Bree Carson (12) says, “Overall, I feel very excited and really happy, but I am also a bit anxious.”
Signing Day is a very fun and significant day in an athlete’s life, as it allows them to look back on their accomplishments, along with looking forward to what they will achieve in college. It takes off the hard practices and also adds pressure, as they will have to continue practicing and will now be playing their sport with an entire university in mind. Regardless of this, it is still very exciting for them.
“Some advice that I would give to future athletes is to keep pushing through. All the practice I put into my sports really helped and built that muscle memory I needed to get where I am today. Just continue to keep that mindset that you will eventually get there if you commit and stay true to your athletic goals,” says Carson (12).
There will be another Signing Day held during the spring semester for the spring and winter season athletes, and also to celebrate these girls over their final fall and winter games.
