Aliso Niguel High’s Parent Teacher Student Association board has a huge impact on students. PTSA has a very valuable role in helping our school with different events. The board helps with student scholarships, parent education programs, school improvements, curriculum support, advocacy and communication between families and the school.
The 2025-2026 PTSA executive board is led by President Veronica Yap, alongside Executive Vice President Kelly Smith, VP of membership Emily Cravens, Secretary Mina Carson and Treasurer Michelle Gohl.
Additional leadership positions include Historian Nicki Crowther-Townsend and Parliamentarian Luc Greco Klaus.
Alongside the executive board, the committee chairs help with PTSA goals by carrying out events and programs that impact our school.
Key roles, such as Emily Cravens, as the Vice President of Membership, focus on increasing the involvement of families in PTSA activities.
Mina Carson manages communication and records, helping with different organizations. Alongside, Treasury Michelle Gohl oversees the financial decisions in relation to funds.
Other board members shape PTSA by assisting in other ways. Nicki Crowther-Townsend, as Historian, documents and organizes work and records of events.
Luc Greco Klaus, as a parliamentarian, is responsible for contributing to ensuring that meetings and decisions follow proper procedures, contributing to a structured and efficient organization.
The committee chair members also have a great role in shaping PTSA’s impact on student life. These members organize different events such as Grad Night, the Spirit Store and different events for teachers and staff.
PTSA additionally supports students by providing opportunities for scholarships,
Every year, PTSA offers a senior scholarship for students and their plans for post-graduation.
This scholarship can be used for a variety of post-high school paths, including community colleges, trade schools and four-year universities.
However, to receive this scholarship, it is required that the student receiving it is a member of the PTSA by a given deadline.
Qualified applicants can apply via the PTSA website and potentially receive financial support used for college or other paths.
This scholarship is due on April 13, 2026, and is only available to PTSA members. Opportunities like this available through the PTSA can be valuable.
Underclassmen or juniors who plan on joining the board can use these opportunities to receive scholarships for college when they are seniors.
Junior Sonia Carey said, “I saw that they have this opportunity for PTSA members. I think it’s really helpful, and knowing that being a member can qualify me for more opportunities, it makes me interested in wanting to join. I think that it would be a great way to also get involved with the school”.
Overall, PTSA has a huge impact on students’ lives at Aliso. The parent volunteers dedicate so much time and effort to make our school a better place and provide opportunities for students to thrive. Annual opportunities provided for students by PTSA not only impact students’ lives at Aliso, but also their shift from high school to college and beyond.
