Aliso Niguel High School (ANHS) has their prom on May 2 this year, so early prom dress shopping is essential.
While old vintage prom dresses may be a style, it is always fun to go out and find something that fits students’ own personal styles.
The top store that students shop at for prom dresses at ANHS is a store called Windsor. The store is well known for its special event dresses, but they also sell more simple clothing items as well.
The store is great to find dresses that fit all body sizes because they offer a wide range of styles and adjustments. They allow customers to try on their dresses in store, or order and return them online.
Windsor dresses are also very affordable, and they often have large sales.
They have many different locations, but the most popular for Aliso Niguel students are the ones at Mission Viejo Mall, Brea Mall and Irvine Spectrum Center.
While on the pricier side, another option is the dress shop Moda 2000. They specialize in Quinceañera dresses, but they also have a collection of prom dresses. There is a Moda 2000 location in Anaheim, California.
One more individual dress shop is OC Sparkle which sells all sorts of special event dresses including prom dresses. Once again this dress shop is a bit on the pricey side.
There are also popular retail options such as Macy’s, Dillard’s and Nordstrom.
Macy’s has a small collection of prom dresses that can be found in stores, so it is often a good idea to shop online.
Dillard’s is a department store with several locations, and they do offer a section of clearance prom dresses. Nordstrom falls into the same category as well.
Going thrift shopping for a prom dress is also a new form of shopping that teens tend to enjoy. However the issue is there is no guarantee that they will have prom dresses in specific sizes.
“I got my dress while thrifting, It was honestly so much fun looking for it!” said Chanel Corredor (12).
When looking for a prom dress, students should first find a price limit that works best for them. It is not a good idea to try on dresses that you will not be able to afford in the end.
“I found my dress at Macy’s and I got it on sale, and it was the best deal I’ve ever gotten,” said Aubrey Fletcher (12).
Also students should make sure that they try on styles that they feel comfortable and confident in. Matching with a prom date is also something that should be discussed prior to shopping.
Depending on certain schools, some dresses also need to fall within certain standards, such as no low cut dresses or open backs. ANHS tends to not have very strict rules, so what is most important is finding a dress that the student enjoys.
Accessories are also important to complete most prom looks. Many accessories can already be found at home, in certain thrift shops or simply in normal stores.
Students should try their best to shop for dresses early as it is essential for certain plans.
