ASB elections take place annually to ensure that students have representation in our school. By voting, students are capable of choosing who they want to represent the student body. This year, we had numerous candidates who were willing to adhere to our school values to provide our school with a year of fun.
The election process began at the beginning of February when candidates launched their campaigns through posters and social media posts. Many candidates shared ideas focused on improving school spirit, strengthening communication between students and administration, as well as organizing memorable events for the student body.
Following the final day of voting, school officials tallied the results and announced the newly elected ASB officers.
The newly elected presidents say they were grateful for the support from fellow students and are excited to begin working with the rest of the leadership team to ensure a great upcoming school year.
Harris says, “For the past three years, I have served on ASB and my goal for next year is to have hype football games, spirited pep rallies and even more fun activities. I want to do that by getting input from the rest of the students at Aliso, so that the events are something you’ll really enjoy. Everyone’s opinions matter and I will do my best to make everyone’s voices heard.”
ASB elections are an important tradition at our campus, giving students the opportunity to participate in the democratic process while selecting peers who will organize events and represent students’ versatile interests.
Trieu says, “My goal as your ASB Vice President is to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where every student feels like they belong. School is where we connect and create lasting memories together and every student deserves to feel validated and included. I want to increase student involvement, strengthen our school spirit and ensure that your ideas help shape our events and activities. By listening to your voices and representing everyone, I will work my hardest to make next year meaningful and exciting for all students.”
Furthermore, the campaign period encouraged candidates to engage directly with the student body. Posters filled hallways and students discussed who they would vote for during and between classes.
With the election now complete, the newly elected officers will begin preparing for the upcoming school year. Their responsibilities will include organizing rallies, coordinating school events and working closely with administrators to represent student interests.
As the new leadership team begins planning for the months ahead, many students are looking forward to seeing how their ideas and initiatives will shape school spirit and campus activities in the coming year.
