Valentine’s Day is a day full of love and passion, on February 14th, couples all over the world celebrate a day full of romance. Taking a moment to appreciate love even families and friends all over celebrate. Classrooms, restaurants and shops are filled with decorations full of hearts, flowers and every shade of red and pink to create an affectionate yet loving environment.
Activities for families and friends are likely the same all year, going to the mall, going out to eat or watching a movie, but on Valentine’s Day those day-to-day activities are brought on by a magic sense of love and joy spread everywhere. Now on this day, people are going to the mall with their loved ones or watching a movie with a boyfriend or girlfriend enjoying the special day together.
Restaurants and shops prepare for the eventful and busy day by fixing menus and stocking up on the most specialized and romantic entrees like oysters and drinks for everyone. Restaurants also conduct romantic decor, lighting and classical music that sets the mood for the lovely night.
Some very common activities during valentines for couples is to go out for a romantic dinner and maybe go on a nice walk on the beach.
Zoe Vovan (12) said “I really love going to a nice restaurant and then maybe after, we go home and watch a movie.”
Watching movies with loved ones is a relaxing, comforting way of spending time with those you love on the special day.
Valentine’s Day is not only for couples, even people without significant others can enjoy the day with their friends and family, or even by themselves for self-care. Many people celebrate with their friends and family, such as go to a fun dinner, getting ice cream with their friends, swimming at the beach or playing a game of cards with family.
Valentine’s Day is an eventful day for watching movies whether that be with your friends, families or even by yourself.
Kacie Bamsey (12) says, “On Valentine’s Day I love watching movies like ‘Wall-e,’ ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ and ‘My Bloody Valentine!’”
Lots of popular movies come back into season during this time of year such as some fan favorites like “Titanic,” “The Notebook,” “Pride and Prejudice,” “Pretty Woman,” “10 Things I Hate About You” and so much more streaming on many available platforms.
Valentine’s Day sales go off as boyfriends and girlfriends buy their significant others heart-shaped chocolates and small gifts like teddy bears and flowers to show their appreciation, love and respect toward each other.
Valentine’s Day isn’t just about gifts; it’s about spending quality time with the ones you love. Many couples go on walks, have game nights, or watch movies together because spending time together helps strengthen communication and mutual respect. Valentine’s Day brings these relationships into view and it being the one day to open up and share time together with all their busy lives being limited.
