The anti-Iranian regime protests in Orange County and across the country are gaining heaps of attention from millions of Americans. Currently, the media is showcasing impactful videos from various different protests that are being held in our country.
On Dec. 11, there was a protest in Westwood, Los Angeles. A man with a U-Haul truck made a dangerous and deadly decision to continue driving his truck through a large crowd of people and this resulted in a collision with those who were participating in the protest.
On the right side of the truck, there was a sign that said “No Shah.” In Farsi, the word “shah” translates to “king,” which meant that this individual opposed the idea of Reza Pahlavi to return to Iran.
Two people were unfortunately injured from the impact. The driver of the U-Haul truck was detained moments later by the Los Angeles Police Department. Shaya Danesh (11) says “I’m glad people are standing up for our country to use their freedom of speech and speak up about the reality and harsh truths of the regime.
From being Persian I’ve learned many things from my parents, and by visiting Iran, I have learned about the true culture. The generosity of Iranians is the truth and this regime misrepresents Iran as a whole.”
Iranian American groups throughout the Orange County area continue to come together in order to louden the voices that are begging for help and freedom in Iran. Over 90,000 Iranians have been murdered by the regime.
Kimia Ahmadi (11) says “I personally feel that this is an incredible movement. The Iranian regime has been in power for nearly 47 years, and with it there’s been suppression of basic freedoms, radical enforcement of laws, and brutal deaths carried out when fighting for their rights.
I feel this way because I believe in basic human rights. Of course, this issue is much closer to my heart because the majority of my family lives in Iran. My parents were able to raise me in a country where I could have a voice, dress how I choose, receive endless opportunities, and so much more.”
The Iranian people have not only joined together in Iran, but all across the world. So many have fled from the regime’s tyranny, and it is clear that many would love to see Iran return to a state of freedom, prosperity, beauty, love, and an everlasting peace.
These protests have a main intention of raising awareness. The goal is to gain the attention of the world which includes political leaders who are being encouraged to take firm action against the suffering of the Iranian people.
There are absolutely no excuses for this regime’s enforcement of terror. These are not exaggerated social media posts or news reels. This is what is happening. This is reality. Iranian Americans were not able to contact their families in Iran due to an internet blackout that started on the eighth of January.
Millions of people will continue to communicate the fact that the Iranian people are brave, persevering, and will continue to fight for a nation free of authoritarian rule.
