Maya Leynes (10) says, “I really liked polka dots and cheetah print because they add an extra element to an outfit.”

Leynes says, “Polka dots or anything in a butter yellow shade stood out the most to me out of the 2025 fashion trends.”
Alongside bold colors and patterns, basic clothing items remained essential. Many students relied on brands that offered simple and versatile pieces that could be styled in multiple ways.
Leynes says, “Brandy Melville was popular last year for its basics and the wide variety of clothing it offered.”
These foundational pieces made it easier for individuals to experiment with trendier items without overcomplicating their wardrobes.
Comfort in fashion was another defining aspect of 2025. Oversized jerseys paired with baggy jeans gained popularity, especially among students seeking outfits that were both stylish and easy to wear.
Saige Braddock (11) says, “I loved oversized jerseys because when they are paired with baggy jeans and the right shoes, the outfit feels complete without the need for layering.”
2025 fashion trends have had a significant impact on many people.
Braddock states, “2025 has a strong base of clothing, which will make it interesting to look back and see how simple outfits can be styled when more detailed trends emerge in the future.”
This focus on simplicity allowed fashion from 2025 to remain relevant even as trends continue to evolve.
Despite the success of last year’s fashion trends, not every trend was universally well received. Certain nostalgic styles, particularly Y2K fashion, divided opinions.
Braddock says, “My least favorite trends were the retro Y2K styles, such as mini bags and crop tops, as well as coquette trends like ballet flats and babydoll tops.”
Other trends also faced criticism.
Braddock says, “Capri pants and barrel jeans were probably my least favorite trends.”
While some accessories added interest to the outfit, others felt unnecessary.
Leynes adds, “Thick belts, decorative fake pockets on jeans and ballet flats are trends I disliked from last year.”
Fashion in 2025 was not only about individual pieces but also about how trends reflected shifting priorities among the youth and showing self-expression.
