Aliso Niguel High School will hold its class of 2030 8th-grade Expo night on Jan 21 in the Aliso main gym.
Every year, Aliso Niguel High School hosts an 8th-grade expo night for incoming freshmen and their families to familiarize them with the high school environment and their future experience at ANHS.
The expo nights are a great introduction to the school, its values, offered courses and athletics and allow students to get a preview of what being an Aliso student is like.
Academics are also a huge part of the expo nights. Counselors and administrators will discuss important academic information, such as A-G requirements, and will introduce the courses offered at Aliso Niguel High School for the students to start thinking about.
Accelerated classes are briefly talked about and serve as an introduction to the school system.
Additionally, athletics play a major role in the expo night, with the coaches and athletes present to discuss all the various sports offered at Aliso in addition to the tryouts, schedules and teams. Coaches encourage students of all levels to participate and introduce them to the school and sports spirit.
Different sporting teams and players will perform at the event and talk about what it is like to be a part of the Aliso athletics. Coaches will discuss their requirements and will give a preview of the experience that future athletes will be a part of.
Beyond sport, students are introduced to leadership programs and performing arts groups that Aliso offers. Some programs include Band, Choir, Theater and Dance Appreciation teams. Many of these programs will perform for the students and allow a glimpse into the Aliso spirit.
Varsity soccer player Claire Hirakawa said, “I think that it’s really important for the incoming freshmen to attend and get a feel of the Aliso spirit. Students will definitely really learn so much more about Aliso and what it’s like to be a student athlete here. I’m excited to be at the showcase and meet potential new players that will join us next year.”
Additionally, expo nights are very important for families to attend, as it allows for them to have a better understanding of the high school programs.
Administrators will address school policies, safety procedures, expectations, communication systems and academic monitoring tools and systems to ensure families feel informed and confident in sending their children to high school.
One of the most popular parts of the event is the guided campus tours. Student leaders and administrators guide all students around campus and introduce them to the school environment for the incoming 8th-grade students to get a grasp of.
Overall, the expo night is a great opportunity for the students and their families to get familiarized with Aliso Niguel High School and the programs offered. Not only will they be more comfortable with their shift to high school, but they will also have time to start thinking about planning their time at Aliso.
