With winter break right around the corner many students are looking forward to it and have varying plans for how they are going to spend it.
Many students are just staying home, using the two weeks as time to relax and take a break from the stress of school.
Sanaa Rishi (11) says, “This winter break I am probably going to just stay at home and watch a lot of movies with my family because my dad is coming back to visit for the month…It’s just gonna be family bonding time and stuff like that since he’s not usually here.”
Sarina Zahfra (11) says, “For the most part, I’m just gonna be sleeping in a lot and getting some rest I need, like away from school. For the holidays, like Christmas and New Years I’ll be spending time with family and bonding and eating lots of good food. And overall enjoying the free time I have away from school.”
Karla Ailey Davila (11) says, “My plans for winter break are to go to my aunt’s house and go out with my cousins and catch up on all the sleep I lost.”
Sofia Gonzalez (9) says, “My plans for winter break is to watch Stranger Things season five volume two, and spend time with my family.”
Stranger Things season 5 volume two releases on Dec. 25, making it perfect for watching together with family and friends during the holidays.
Ella D’lima (11) says, “My plans for winter break are definitely going to be spending time with family…My sister is flying in from college to spend Christmas with us as well so we’ll be doing a lot more family activities, [like] board games and card games… and we’ll have Christmas movie nights.”
Abigail Kirland (11) says, “My plans for this winter break are to spend time with my family as well as my friends. Enjoying a season that brings everyone closer together.”
Other students are using the break to travel and take a vacation with family.
Eden Estevez (11) says, “I’m going to go to Cancun for vacation with my family and I’m excited to spend time with them and the holidays with them, especially in a place that is warm and not so cold like here”
Harris Yusuf (11) says, “I might be going to Colorado to see my cousin get born. Yeah, he’s popping out around then.”
Iva Khomenko (10) says, “My aunt is visiting me and I haven’t seen her in a year. Also we’re probably going to go to Vegas and spend our Christmas there. I just want to spend as much time as I can with my family and friends.”
While it is important to relax and use winter break as a much needed vacation from school, the break can also be used for getting ahead academically.
D’lima mentions, “I also plan to look into some summer programs and plan out what I wanna do for the summer academic wise, like community college courses. I also will prepare for the second semester, mostly for AP Exams by reviewing main ideas from different AP classes.”
Overall, a majority of students are using the break to spend time with their families and friends, while also relaxing and enjoying the holiday season.
