The 2025 World Series contained seven hard-fought games between the Dodgers of Los Angeles and the Blue Jays from Toronto. The intensity of the series ultimately ended in a decisive victory for the Dodgers.
Jacob Estall (12) shared, “I think that this was one of the most suspenseful and best World Series in a long time. My family and I are Dodgers fans, so we would come together to watch all the games which was super fun.”
The first game resulted in a disappointing loss for the Dodgers, with a score of 11-4 for the Blue Jays. The win sparked greater drive and motivation from the Blue Jays and their supporters, reminding them that they have a fair shot at winning for the first time since the 1993 World Series.
The Dodgers shot back in the second game, winning 5-1. Will Smith and Max Muncy’s back-to-back home runs riled up the crowd and kept the Dodgers’ energy up till the end of the game.
The third game marked a monumental moment in World Series history; it had a total of 18 intense innings and lasted over six hours. Many fans stayed up until the very last moment to see who would take the win. Freddie Freeman, a Dodger’s player, solidified a Los Angeles victory with a walk-off home run to end the game with a 6-5 score.
Unfortunately, the fourth game set the Dodgers back from their victorious win last game as the Blue Jays fought hard to win 6-2. The Blue Jays from Toronto built their momentum with Vladimir Guerrero’s two-run home run. Later on they added an additional run in the seventh inning as well.
The Blue Jays used the momentum from last game to restrain the Dodgers in the fifth game; ultimately, scoring six runs while the Dodgers only managed one. This granted the Blue Jays an upper hand in the series with a 3-2 lead against the Dodgers.
Chloe Chik (12) commented, “The World Series was going so unpredictably, but I think it made it more fun to watch because every person is playing with the championship on the line.”
With the championship title at the tip of the Blue Jays’ hands, the Dodgers knew that they had to do everything in their power to demolish them in the sixth game. Despite the Blue Jays scoring a run against them, the Dodgers stayed on top with a total of three runs.
With the final game ahead, it was difficult for anyone to determine whether the Blue Jays or the Dodgers would sweep the World Series.
The final game started with a three-run home run by Bo Bichette, a player on the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays’ confident lead was challenged by Max Muncy’s home run in the eighth inning, culminating in a 4-3 score with the Blue Jays with a slight lead.
With the game close to an end, the Dodgers scored another run by Miguel Rojas’ homerun, which tied the game.
The game continued in attempts to break the tie; finally, in the 11th inning, Will Smith’s home run put the Dodgers ahead by one run. Subsequently, their win was sealed with a double play by Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
The Dodgers’ victory showcased them as one of the most dominant teams in modern baseball by winning back-to-back. Additionally, it united many individuals that had loved either the Dodgers, the Blue Jays or simply loved watching baseball.
After this year’s World Series coming to a close, many wonder how the next World Series will look after such a heart-tugging match between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays.
