The new movie “Regretting You,” starring Mason Thames and McKenna Grace, is based on the popular book by Colleen Hoover. The book has a big fanbase, so it’s no surprise that people were excited to see how the story would look on screen.
The movie keeps the same emotional tone as the book, focusing on love, loss and how relationships can be both complicated and healing.
The story follows Clara Grant, played by McKenna Grace, a high school student who lives with her mom, Morgan. Clara’s father dies in a tragic accident, and afterwards, Clara learns some painful secrets about her parents’ marriage that change the way she sees her family.
At the same time, she’s falling for her classmate Miller, played by Mason Thames. Their sweet and sometimes awkward teenage romance adds some lightness to a story that’s otherwise full of emotional twists.
Many people went to watch “Regretting You” mainly because of Mason Thames. Ever since his breakout role in “The Black Phone,” he’s built a big following, especially among younger fans. His performance in this movie shows a softer, more romantic side that audiences haven’t really seen from him before.
Even though the movie has some heartfelt moments, not everyone was impressed with it. A lot of viewers said that the acting felt a little uneven in certain scenes, and that the plot could be confusing at times.
Some parts jump around quickly, making it hard to follow who knows what or how much time has passed. Still, the movie tries to balance drama, romance and family tension; even if it doesn’t always hit perfectly, it keeps your attention the whole way through.
Antonella Caggiano (10) said, “I didn’t really enjoy how the movie seemed to normalize cheating. It made it hard for me to sympathize with certain characters, even though the story was emotional.”
One of the standout moments for many people was the promposal scene between Clara and Miller.
Sydney Torrico (10) said, “My favorite part of the movie was the promposal from the main character. It was so sweet and genuine and I couldn’t help but smile.”
That scene really captures the heart of what “Regretting You” is trying to do: show that even in the middle of pain and loss, there can still be moments of love and joy.
Overall, “Regretting You” is a touching but sometimes uneven movie. It has strong emotional themes, relatable characters and a few truly memorable scenes. The chemistry between Mason Thames and McKenna Grace feels natural and believable, and their performances make you root for them.
While some parts could’ve been written more clearly or acted more strongly, it’s still a movie that will hit home for anyone who’s ever had to forgive, move on or just deal with the messiness of growing up.
If you’re a fan of Mason Thames or emotional teen dramas, “Regretting You” is definitely worth watching — just be ready for a few tears and a lot of feelings.
