Kicks2Give, an inspiring club at Aliso Niguel High School, gives back to the community by donating gently-used soccer equipment.
This club is run by President Kendall Hwang (12), Vice Presidents Kasey Miller (12) and Skyler Flores (12) and Club Advisor Ms. Lusar.
This club’s mission is to help underprivileged kids in poor countries and our community get the equipment they need to be able to play soccer. The club collects student donations of gently-used equipment that can be sent to children in need.
Many schools and communities have “Kicks2Give” organizations or clubs, however, they are all united under the common goal of giving back to their community.
Every third week of the month, there are club meetings in room 504. At these meetings, members can decorate encouraging cards that will go along with their donations, discuss upcoming volunteering opportunities and assess their equipment drives.
When asked about volunteer opportunities for club members, Hwang says, “There is usually an annual volunteer opportunity for members where they can help a Kicks2Give table at a youth soccer tournament for the Hispanic community. Volunteers hand out water bottles and some of our collected donations.”
Ms. Lusar, the club’s advisor, helps Hwang organize meetings, provide a place to collect donations and determine action items the club should take.
Ms. Lusar says, “I wanted to advise Kicks2Give because they support athletes from all backgrounds.”
This club is accomplishing amazing things for the community and the world. It is the perfect opportunity for people who play soccer, love the sport or just want to help the community.
“I would recommend my club because many students have old soccer equipment they can donate, and it is an easy way to become involved with the school,” says Hwang.
