1. Short n’ Sweet: Sabrina Carpenter
The Pop album was released Aug. 23, her sixth studio album. It reached number one on the Billboard 200, being her first to ever do so, hitting the charts on Sept. 7. Short n’ Sweet had two songs in the top five on the Billboard charts for multiple weeks. Her hit song, “Espresso”, was coined 2024’s Song of the Summer.
2. Brat: Charli XCX
Released June 7, it was her sixth studio album and reached number three on the Billboard 200. It took influence from the 2000s and was dubbed Club-pop, by critics. The song “365” was particularly popular, gaining traction on apps like TikTok and Instagram.
3. Chromakopia: Tyler, The Creator
Chromakopia is Tyler the Creator’s eighth studio album, released on Oct. 28. The album is classified as Hip-hop, R&B and Jazz. Fans were long awaiting a new album following the release of Call Me If You Get Lost in 2021, and the album was very well received by both critics and fans alike.
4. Hit Me Hard and Soft: Billie Eilish
The Alt-pop record was Eilish’s third studio album, released on May 17. The album had all of its songs in the Billboard Top 40, reaching its peak at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Praised by the Academy, Hit Me Hard and Soft received seven Grammy nominations.
5. The Tortured Poets Department: Taylor Swift
Released on April 19, the Folk-pop album spent 17 weeks on the Billboard 200 with 14 songs taking up spots on the Billboard Hot 100. It is Swift’s 11 studio album and it received six Grammy nominations. The album expanded into a double album two hours after its release, making some feel as though it was too long and underdeveloped lyrically.
6. Eternal Sunshine: Ariana Grande
This record is Grande’s seventh studio album and was released on March 8, over three years after the release of Positions, her last studio album. The Pop album debuted atop the Billboard 200 with all songs charting on the Billboard Hot 100. The Album has been nominated for three Grammys.
7. Cowboy Carter: Beyoncé
This Country album was released on March 29 and was Beyoncé’s eighth studio album, her first in the genre. The album was her eighth consecutive album at number one on the Billboard 200, the single “II Most Wanted” being the only country song by a Black female artist to top the Billboard Hot 100. The album received 11 nominations for the upcoming Grammy Awards.
8. This Is How Tomorrow Moves: Beabadoobee
This is Beabadoobee’s third studio album, all indie-rock records. The album debuted at number one on the UK Album Chart after its release on August 9. Her single “Beaches” came out on August 7 in preparation for the album’s release, and was well received by fans, becoming very popular on TikTok.
9. Charm: Clairo
Clairo’s Charm is her first self-released studio album and her third total studio album. It debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 after its release on July 12. Her single “Juna” topped the Billboard Top 50 in August after gaining traction on Tiktok after her album’s release. Charm received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.
10. GNX: Kendrick Lamar
GNX is a Hip-hop album and Lamar’s sixth studio album. After its release on November 22, it debuted on the Billboard 200 at number one, making it his fifth number one album. It included none of the diss tracks from Lamars’ public feud with fellow rapper, Drake. His diss track, “Not Like Us” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and received five Grammy nominations.
