At Aliso Niguel High School, the Clash of Classes event running from March 18 to March 22 was held. Organized by ASB, this event aimed at creating a school spirit and unity amongst students from different grade levels.
On Monday, April 18, there was a Twin Day event when students dress alike with their friends on campus. The matchup between Soccer Moms and Barbecue Dads took place on Tuesday.
The theme for Wednesday was “Anything but a Backpack Day,” where kids were asked to bring replacements for the backpacks they often use to carry their school essentials. Thursday’s theme was denim day, where students were encouraged to wear anything denim to help display their school spirit.
Friday was Class Colors Day. Each class proudly wore its unique colors, with some freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors wearing their respective colors to demonstrate their class pride. Freshmen were asked to wear yellow, sophomores wore green, juniors wore blue and seniors wore red.
The ASB students running the event had some words to say about what inspired certain events and the goals to accomplish through the clash of classes week.
Sierra Yoon (11) states, “The concepts are inspired by inclusivity shown from interactive activities like lunchtime games and dress-up days to be available for the entire student body. The goal we hope to achieve is to encourage friendly competition through the grade levels. The increase of class spirit is another goal for the school.”
Throughout the week, although many students did not participate, there were still students who did participate and helped bring friendly competition between the classes as well as school spirit.
- Lacanienta (10) states, “I think the clash of the classes is fun and I participated so I could troll and bring something silly that’s not a backpack.”
On Friday, March 22, the pep rally also featured the Clash of Classes event. The various grade levels participated in activities including musical chairs, tug-of-war, relay races and hungry hippos.
Aliso Niguel High School’s Clash of Classes event helped provide the school’s strong sense of community and a positive school environment. Students who participated created lasting memories and connections while demonstrating their creativity and unity throughout a week of exciting events and themed dress-up days. The goal of bringing friendly competition amongst the different classes of ANHS was achieved from this event.
