The Welcome Back Pep Rally was filled with dance performances, cheer routines, homecoming information and exciting games.
The Rally was held Friday, Sept. 15, and began with Sophie Lowry’s (11) powerful performance of the national anthem. After that, the students broke out into cheering. The first performers were Cheer, showcasing their amazing dance and acrobatic skills. The performance was flawless and the crowd cheering with approval.
Next was Song and they delivered a spirited dance performance. This was followed by the Dance Team with yet another powerful performance where their dancers’ music switched from country to pop to rock to old school pop.
Next was the introduction of the fall sports team captains, each with a very unique way of showcasing their sports to the student audience. There is a new entry to fall sports this year and the flag football team made their grand debut.
ASB then invited the flag football team and the football team to compete against each other in a game of balloon relay race where participants must pop the balloon. First, the competitors popped their balloon against their chest. The next round required the athletes to pop the balloon with their arms linked, back-to-back. .
In this game, the football team won; however, it was not over.
ASB then brought out the Cheer and Song teams to compete against one another in the same game, and Song won. In the end, Song and both the football teams competed in the finals where the football team took the win.
After the Balloon Relay Race, the hosts introduced the Dance Appreciation team for a show-stopping performance. Dance Appreciation is bigger than ever, covering half of the main gym with its members.
“We are very excited to show everyone new dances and new music, it is always a blast to practice and perform with other members,” said Chloe Willoughby (12) of Dance Appreciation.
