The pink-out game against Dana Hills High School was a game to see, from the Den being packed and energized with lots of enthusiasm to a very intense football game that went down to the final minutes.
Although Aliso lost 35-14, it was still one of the biggest games of the entire season due to the rivalry between Aliso and Dana. The entire Den was able to bring energy through matching the theme with loud chants, which hyped up our football team on the field.
The Aliso Niguel football team was able to play well despite a loss due to individual performances that helped the team.
The players that contributed to the score were Finley Torrico (12) and Brody Blasing (10), who was able to catch a touchdown pass to help Aliso get on the scoreboard. Asher Youderian (11) was able to make both of his extra point kicks to help Aliso gain two points after both of their touchdowns.
The visiting student section was also very energetic as their fans were set to support their team to find out who will come out victorious in the end in one of the biggest high school rivalries in Orange County.
Lucas Tomé (10), explained the Den as “the most energetic and most packed I’ve seen it as, and I would say it was even more packed than the Homecoming game, but I would say that this was the best game I’ve been to.”
Ever since the start of the football season, the Den has shown no signs of slowing down due to the amount of students showing up to the games, the energetic chants and the amount of school spirit Aliso students have shown at these football games.
The Aliso and Dana rivalry is not just in sports — they also have rivalries in other activities such as canned food drives. Aliso was able to donate eight and a half bins of cans, while Dana was only able to donate four and half.
Eduin Lazo (10), said of the game, “It was the best game I’ve watched at Aliso Niguel, and the student section was full. It was very fun, especially watching the game and hanging out with friends”.
The excitement of hanging out with friends and cheering for your school’s football team brings joy and excitement for students who attend all the home games. Additionally, the fun aspect is seen through traditions such as going to In-n-Out after games, which occurs all throughout California.
Attending these football games shows school spirit and enjoyment amongst the students, helping to get them excited and have something to look forward to all week.
Aliso Niguel and Dana Hills will always be one of the biggest rivalries in both schools’ histories, with many more years to come.
