This year’s California Scholarship Federation board is an amazing group of leaders, coordinators and students with many different skillsets.
The team is aiming to focus on “allowing students to excel academically as well as encouraging students to help out in the community in unique ways,” says co-president Gabby Guilini (12).
Each and every member contributes in their own way to help not just the other team members, but all students and staff throughout Aliso Niguel through leadership and volunteering.
The team consists of co-presidents Gulini and Ansh Sharma (12), vice president Alanni Rogers (12), Payra Mosayebi (12), Viana Nafaji (12), Ira Adnaik (12), Gavin Gabal (12), Troy Kinney (11), Miyako Cros (11), Jenean Elshenawi (11), Shiley Moeinzadeh (11) and Kimia Ahmadi (11). The positions are a variety of social media work, volunteer coordination and technology work, as well as being representatives for each grade.
The California Scholarship Federation is a program that allows for excelling scholars to showcase their academics and community involvement. For each notable achievement, participants receive points; in order to continue being a part of CSF, they must have 30 points by the end of the semester.
All active members for four semesters will receive a golden cord at graduation, and those who were active members for six consecutive semesters will receive a golden stole at graduation. These members are referred to as sealbearers. All sealbearers are awarded with a CSF seal on their graduation diploma.
Participants are also rewarded for their outstanding academic excellency through grades and scores. This is a lot to keep track of, as Aliso Niguel has many students who excel academically with lots of achievements outside of school.
There are over four hundred dedicated scholars participating in CSF, meaning the 12 member CSF Executive Board must make sure that their points, rewards, and questions are always up to date and answered in a timely and professional manner — a lot to put on high school students.
Being a part of this team requires commitment and hard work as they plan every CSF meeting, set up every fundraiser, and plan any other important events run by CSF. They also manage their website, anhs.csf.org, and update it regularly for students.
The overarching goal of CSF is to celebrate and honor the outstanding and rigorous achievements from the students of Aliso Niguel. This includes community service hours, leadership demonstrations, dedication to education and college seminar involvement.
The team has been working passionately to make a positive impact on the school community by raising scholars who strive for academic excellence and are proud to be a part of a team that recognizes students for their character and contributions to the community.
The team plans the monthly meetings along with Ms. Sepe, the CSF advisor. During meetings, a handful of members take turns addressing important dates like upcoming fundraisers or volunteer opportunities.
