Aliso Niguel Boys Waterpolo’s last game was played on Sept. 30 where they unfortunately took another loss making their record 13 to 7 in Division three.
The game was played at home against the Beckman Patriots who have always been a strong contender for the Aliso Boys. By the first quarter, Beckman was up seven points making the game nine to two.
It is always very difficult to make a major comeback in Waterpolo and the boys only managed four more points by the end of the game while Beckman scored five more. This resulted in the game ending at 14 to 6.
Their first game of October was played at home against Trabuco Hills High School which turned out to be one of the highest scoring games in Aliso history. In total a staggering 30 points were scored between the two teams, luckily Aliso scoring 19 of them easily taking the win against Trabuco Hills.
Tyler Bird (12) comments, “This game was super exciting. A lot of back and forth with everyone scoring multiple goals. The high scoring games are always the most fun because of the constant action”.
Four days later the Boys matched up against San Clemente High School, another very strong team. The game was played at home on Oct. 9 with the Tritons scoring four more points than Aliso who had seven.
Jaden Prestridge (12) says, “The games against San Clemente are always super close. I wish that I could have played a little better but the team had great synergy and did the best we could.”
Oct. 14 was the Boys last home game of the season played against San Juan Hill High School who they played in Sept. and unfortunately lost. The first half of the game was intense, the score differing by only two points.
By the third quarter it was evident that San Juan was pulling through being five points up against Aliso’s 6. Unfortunately in the fourth quarter both Aliso and San Juan scored three points, not allowing Aliso to gain anymore points over San Juan Hills.
This loss bumped Aliso down to one win and five losses in the South Coast Water Polo League placing them fourth behind Beckman, San Clemente and San Juan Hills.
On Oct. 16, the boys line up against Beckman once again. They had already lost to the Patriots late September and they stand at number one in the South Coast League. This game was very close, just a two point difference, but unfortunately the Wolverines were not able to pull through.
Sammy Zeitawi (12) says, “Yeah, super unfortunate. I wish we could have done a little better overall but Beckman is just really good. The season was pretty fun though overall”.
This brings the Boys’ record in the South Coast League to a devastating one to six and a record of 14 to ten in the Southern Section Division three.
Yorgos Lepe (12) says, “Yeah, I’m sad that the season is coming to an end and that it will be our last time playing as a team. I wish there was more time to play water polo in high school”.
The Aliso Boys season is coming to an end with just one more game left against Dana Hills High School at their pool on Oct. 21. Dana has always been an easy matchup for Aliso which hopefully will add another win to their record.
