The Aliso Niguel High School Junior Varsity Cheer Team has kicked off the school year with energy, enthusiasm and an unshakable commitment to school spirit. Whether cheering under the Thursday night lights or leading pep rallies, the JV team plays a vital role in bringing excitement and unity to the Wolverine community.
Composed mostly of freshmen and sophomores, the JV team is often where new cheerleaders begin their high school cheer journey. The group works tirelessly to master routines, stunts and chants that keep the student section energized and the players motivated. Behind every cheer performance is hours of practice, conditioning and teamwork that push each member to grow both as athletes and as leaders.
This year’s JV team has shown incredible growth and has shown lots of dedication.
Kaia Pintarelli (10) says her favorite part about cheer is, “probably throwing people up in the air with me supporting them as the base, and tumbling on the tracks.”
Practices for the team are rigorous and detail-oriented. The cheerleaders focus not only on technical precision, but also on synchronization and spirit, the key ingredients of an impressive performance. The girls meet multiple times a week to learn choreography, improve stunting skills and build trust within the team. Each practice emphasizes collaboration, as every stunt and routine requires complete coordination and mutual support.
For many members, JV cheer is more than just performing at games, it’s about representing the school and building friendships. The team has formed a strong bond, often describing each other as a second family. Through long practices and early call times, the team has learned that success comes from teamwork and perseverance.
Being on JV helps girls who are starting cheer become more confident.
Aarna Raju (10) a fan of cheer said that, “Watching the cheerleaders’ stunts is very entertaining and I can tell that they are consistently getting better at every game”.
The JV cheerleaders also serve as role models for middle school students and newcomers who aspire to join the program in the future. They demonstrate that cheerleading is about much more than performing, it’s about spirit and discipline.
In addition to supporting football games, the team performs at rallies, basketball games and community events throughout the year. Each performance is an opportunity to showcase their hard work and passion for cheerleading. Their dedication not only contributes to school pride, but also helps maintain the strong reputation of Aliso Niguel’s cheer program.
As the season continues, the JV team is excited to keep improving, performing and spreading Wolverine pride wherever they go. Through their commitment and teamwork, the JV cheerleaders embody what it truly means to be part of Aliso Niguel’s spirit community.
