A hole in one was scored by Rhyan Heine on Oct. 2nd, 2025 during a non-league match vs El Toro High School. At the young age of 16, Rhyan Heine, a sophomore, reached this milestone for the third time. Something many players strive for but never attain, even after years of dedication.
Heine’s golf career started around nine years ago. With this early start, it made it possible for her to start playing competitively by the age of eight. Golf is a good sport to advance in, as it is a common interest amongst numerous age groups.
This year the Varsity Girls Golf team has around nine members. Amongst all these members, Heine still manages to make an impact. During her freshman year she already left us with a strong impression of her skill. She represented our school at CIF individuals and won the “Most Valuable Participant” award.
It is debatable whether a hole in one requires skill or luck, but this is not Heine’s first time either. The first came at Pinehurst NC at the World Championships when she was only 12 years old.
Heine claims that, “the skill was the most contributed to this achievement but it also included a bit of luck.”
Many of her peers have also been motivated to advance more in golf in response to this impressive achievement.
Sydney Chan (10) says, “Her grit for the sport is something to look up to and although achieving a hole in one is very difficult I had no doubt that she would make this achievement.”
A hole in one is considered one of the rarest accomplishments in golf. According to statistics, the odds of an amateur golfer making one are about 1 in 12,500. This makes Heine’s shot even more remarkable, a testament to her precision and patience.
Behind every successful moment are countless hours of practice. Heine typically practices five times per week for two to five hours a day, focusing on improving accuracy and consistency.
Coach Turney says, “She is a great golfer who has a competitive spirit and a fun player to watch dominate a course. She is a great teammate, and even though golf is an individual sport she still makes many team efforts”.
This year, with her sister Taylor Heine, they are dominating once again with high hopes for the league and CIF. Both of these talented girls plan to play Division I golf in university. It is safe to say there are no doubts that either of them will have trouble making this happen.
For Rhyan Heine, that one perfect swing was more than just a lucky shot, it was the result of years of discipline, growth and love for the game. As she continues to represent Aliso Niguel High School as the top player, her story reminds us that with persistence and passion, even the rarest goals are within reach.
