The 2025 Homecoming for this year took place on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2025 from 7–10 p.m. Students had mixed opinions on how it was. The dance took place at Aliso Niguel High School near the tennis courts with many different activities such as rides, various games, photo opportunities, and food stands. `
Freshman usually tend to enjoy the dance the most, while other grades either do not go or enjoy it less. This can be seen as most freshmen, when asked about their opinion, stated that it was a really fun and new experience for them while when asking students from other grades, they said that it was overall boring but still enjoyable.
The dance theme this year was “Road Trip”, with freshmen as New York, sophomores as Nashville, juniors as Los Angeles, and seniors as Miami. This year’s theme sparked mixed feelings throughout the school, with some thinking the theme did not fit the “Hoco vibe” as others praised the theme for its creativity.
Jocelyn Luu (9) said, “I liked the slide but I would’ve liked another photobooth because there was a long line for it. There was also a really long line for all the rides and activities as well, which took a long time.”
A positive that most upperclassmen mentioned was that the parking situation was much better than last year, as it was more organized and less chaotic. The underclassmen included that the pick up and drop off was very organized as well.
Lyric Davis (9) added that “It was good because the drink bars were cool and the Nintendo and foosball games added a nice variety.”
Most students really liked the churros and the outdoor games, although there weren’t many. Students also claimed that this year’s dance had a carnival vibe, which they enjoyed. Additionally, the new reflexes game was appreciated, along with the new swing ride that provided something new for students.
Mallory Smith (10) said, “I enjoyed it, but the mosh pit songs were not as fun and the theme was a bit confusing. I also wish there were more snack and food options.”
Most of the freshmen thoroughly enjoyed the dance while the other grades stated that last year’s was better because the rides were more fun and the theme was more elegant.
Some students said that they liked the flash sale, offered by ASB several weeks in advance, because of the cheap price of $65 with an ASB card. Others countered that the ticket prices grew incredibly high as the dance grew closer, not even counting prices for clothes, hair and makeup and even transportation..
Overall, this year’s Homecoming dance was a good balance between a success and “just alright” in terms of food, fun, and activities.
