The Aliso Niguel High school’s College and Career center offers weekly college visits by administrators from across the nation. College representatives allow students to get a deeper understanding of the various aspects of colleges and ease their process of picking the right school. The college visits are held nearly weekly during lunch and offer students details of the visiting schools.
The Aliso Niguel High school College and Career center has a pre-selected schedule of all the attending visits and announces upcoming representatives for students who are interested in participating.
The college representative’s main purpose is to provide details regarding the administration process and offer students a general idea of the college’s values.
Students who attend the meetings are given the opportunity to ask questions and be introduced to the application process of different colleges.
For many Juniors and Seniors, learning about various schools and having to choose colleges can be a struggle as there are more than thousands of different schools around the nation.
Junior Sonia Carey said “The college visits are really helpful because engaging with the administrators and hearing about how and what they look for in the admitted students is really helpful.”
The college representatives allow the students to identify their desired values and what they look for in colleges.
Mrs. Nguyen, the College and Career counselor said, “I think that it is very important for all students to know that searching for different colleges and putting time into building a valuable college list can be very helpful in their future of applying to those colleges.” Getting a grasp of what the colleges offer and what they are looking for in admitted students is incredibly helpful and essential for the students who are interested in applying to those schools. All Aliso students, specifically the juniors and seniors can really be assisted a lot by these college visits and are given the opportunity to research about different schools in the area.
The college visits usually take place during lunch, and are held in the library or other classrooms across the campus.
The College visits include many prestigious schools across the state and nation and are not limited to local universities or colleges. This year, Aliso Niguel high school is expecting visits from many new schools.
The college visits will take place from September 4 to October 8, nearly every day of the week. Some important college visits of the 2025-26 representatives include the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor on September 4 In the College and Career Center; The Baylor University on September 10 in the College and Career Center, the University of Washington – Seattle on September 17 In the College and Career Center; the University of California, Santa Barbara, on October 1 In the Library, and finally the University of Southern California (USC), On October 2 Library.
Mrs. Nguyen, the College and Career counselor said, “Colleges notice that you speak to them and that you are interested, and this increases your chance of admission. It matters to colleges that you show interest in schools and that you are curious about your choices.”
