Teal Town Cares is a volunteer program where students have the opportunity to earn a medal each year they participate, as long as they submit 25 volunteer hours with a non-profit organization.
The volunteer hours must be completed between June 5, 2025, and April 24, 2026. Volunteering can be done at any non-profit organization, including volunteering at the school.
Seniors who have participated in the Teal Town Cares program for all 4 years receive a special graduation cord upon graduation. However, since the program is newly improved, sophomores, juniors, and seniors can still receive the cord as long as they participate in Teal Town Cares this year.
Shiley Moeinzadeh (11), who did the program last year, says, “Teal Town Cares is an easy and simple way for students to document their volunteer hours and get recognized for their service to the community. I would recommend all students to get involved as soon as possible because it is an amazing program.”
Jackson Cravens (11) says, “I think it’s a great program to be involved in and is an excellent thing for college apps.”
The program is run by the PTSA, and Luca Grecu Klaus is in charge of the program. Mrs. Grecu Klaus took charge of the program last year and changed the name from Teal Cares to Teal Town Cares, promoting the program more and increasing its legitimacy. Any student can participate in the program; they don’t have to be a member of the PTA.

Mrs. Grecu Klaus says, “It’s sort of like a bragging right, that our students are awesome and give back to the community.”
