On Sep. 20, 2025 many students at Aliso Niguel high school performed in the halftime show of the school’s Homecoming football game to get hyped up and prepare for their homecoming dance the next day.
Students were able to freely sign up to participate in the dances with their corresponding grades, with everything being organized by the school’s ASB leadership team. Overall, the reviews of the show were very positive from both dancers and viewers, and most people believed it was executed very well. Students have voiced their opinions on how the show went amazing and how it should be the exact same next year because it went so well.
“The groups went all out for their performance, they really brought a lot of energy and it really made their moves so much more in sync,” stated Miss Tinker who helped out with the show. Not only did the dancers do amazing, but ASB was very smart and practical with the way they planned the show.
ASB held Wolverine+ periods where the dances were learned by students so that they could have enough time to prepare for the show. Also ASB saw the possibility of it raining on the day of dress rehearsal so they held off on putting up the large designed backdrops so that they would not get ruined by the rain.
The dances performed by students were themed around the roadtrip theme of Homecoming, with the freshmen dancing to music from New York, the sophomores with Nashville, the juniors dancing to music from LA and the seniors dancing to music from Miami. Students performing in the sophomore’s halftime show dance created a large stunt involving one student being lifted up into the air and falling into the arms of the other students. While there were many failed attempts while learning this stunt, the sophomores worked together to perfect it for the day of the show.
Cooper Kennedy (10) voiced that he wished the other grades did more stunts and tumbling like the freshmen and sophomores, because he thought it would have made the show much cooler. The freshmen also showed off some of their stunts, with cheerleaders in the dance doing flips and tumbling during their performance. The stunts really hyped up the crowd and caused some very loud and supportive cheering.
The seniors really brought their all and enjoyed one last performance all together. Their music talked about having fun together one last time and even just watching the dance, viewers could tell how much fun they were having.
Valeria Alonso (12) says that her favorite part of the show was getting together with her friends and learning the dances during rehearsals. She also stated, “the best part of the show itself was the energy with everyone and the lights because it just made the dance so much more fun.”
The Homecoming King and Queen were also announced at the end of the performance. Gavin Gabal (12) is representing the school as Homecoming king and Paige Balducci as homecoming queen. Everyone thought it was cute that the senior couple won homecoming court; many were rooting for them from the sidelines.
Overall, the show was enjoyed by everyone who watched it and participated in it and it was the perfect way to kick off Homecoming 2025 at Aliso Niguel Highschool.
