Aliso Niguel High School will host its annual Challenge Accepted event, a specially designed initiative aimed at supporting seniors through the college application process and career exploration on Oct. 6.
Recognizing the pressures that accompany college applications, this event seeks to offer targeted assistance and resources, ensuring that students feel equipped to navigate this pivotal time in their lives.
Challenge Accepted is an interactive program tailored to meet the unique needs of seniors preparing for college. Based on feedback from student needs surveys, school officials crafted a dynamic experience that provides hands-on guidance in a supportive environment.
During the event, seniors will have the opportunity to choose from a range of breakout sessions, including Military/Career, UC/CSU, Private School (Common App) and Saddleback College. Each session addresses different pathways and offers personalized assistance, making it easier for students to navigate the complexities of college applications.
“The admissions reps and guest speakers bring insider knowledge from the other side of the table, offering valuable insights into what colleges are truly looking for” says Ms. Liegler, the counselor for last names She – Z.
This event is particularly significant as it directly addresses the challenges seniors face in preparing for their chosen college or university. Challenge Accepted will provide students with both the time and tools necessary to effectively work on their applications.
Whether participants are just starting or are in the final stages of preparation, they will leave with a clearer understanding of what colleges seek. Students will learn how to craft compelling personal statements, gain practical strategies for meeting important deadlines, and feel empowered to present themselves in the best possible light to prospective colleges.
A comprehensive range of resources and activities will be available during Challenge Accepted to support each student’s application journey. Participants can expect one-on-one assistance with application materials and essays, as well as discussion sessions with college admissions representatives, providing direct access to professionals who understand the process intricately.
Additionally, workshops covering financial aid, the college selection process and tips for creating standout applications will offer valuable information tailored to students’ needs. Students should bring their Chromebooks for hands-on work during the event, and the Guidance Department will supply the necessary transcripts, ensuring everyone is well-prepared.
Mrs. Whiteside, the counselor for students with last names OL – SLI says “There will also be opportunities to hear directly from college professionals about what makes an applicant stand out and common mistakes to avoid.”
The event will be facilitated by a dedicated team of professionals, including school counselors and guidance technicians. Aliso Niguel’s counselors, Mrs. Nguyen, Mr. Sall, Mrs. Buechler, Mr. Moreno, Mrs. Koyama, Mrs. Whiteside and Ms. Liegler, bring years of experience and a wealth of knowledge about the college application process.
They will be collaborating with college admissions representatives and local professionals who specialize in college access, providing seniors with unique insights and advice. This collaboration aims to create a robust support system that empowers students to take control of their futures with confidence.
Challenge Accepted represents a significant opportunity for seniors at Aliso Niguel High School. By participating in this event, students will gain the guidance, resources and encouragement they need to succeed in their college applications and career exploration. Don’t miss this chance to take charge of your future and mark your calendars for October 6!
