Girls’ Tennis season just began, and the team continues to pull out victories across a majority of their matches. On Thursday, September 25, the team battled against Capistrano Valley High School’s Girls’ Tennis Team in their third league match and won. The final score was 13-5, a striking accomplishment for the team. Their previous league matches were also victories, keeping their winning streak alive.
Team Captain Miah Zhou (11) says, “We all love to do fun activities in the bus rides to games, and we try to host as many team dinners or get-togethers as possible.” This team dynamic paves a clear path toward victory for the team and allows them to develop bonds beyond the court. Zhou says this makes her teammates feel like her best friends.
Estelle Luu (9) says, “Being able to connect with the team both in and out of school is such a valuable experience everyone should be able to have.” These girls are grateful for each other’s company in all aspects of their lives, from academics to social circles, to where they met, the tennis court.
Luu says she “thinks the tennis team can do so well because we hype each other up and support one another no matter what.” This compassion, even through difficulty and guidance through sisterhood, aids the team’s strength. As a whole, the team has everyone’s back and can work together through all hardships.
The girls continue to put immense effort into their team, on and off the courts, and this effort is projected in their victories. Last year, this mentality guided them through league and to division finals.
