Aliso Niguel High School’s student section, The Den, is back at full force this football season. The Den is recognized county-wide for its unmatched school energy and dedication, making it an important part of the Aliso community.
A notable reason why The Den is incredible is the way students fill out the stands. Aliso Niguel’s Wolverines bring their energy and enthusiasm through chants, cheers and outfits that match the theme, whether it’s lights out, neon or camouflage.
The Den has been awarded Student Section of the Week by Orange County Student Sections (OCSS) multiple times. More than just noise, The Den becomes a source of pride as its energy fuels the football team and unites the school.
Cooper Kennedy (10), member of the Loud Crowd Committee, shares, “The Student Section really puts our school on the map. We have really set a standard on how to run a Student Section; with tech running music, T-shirt cannons and fog machines.”
Behind the scenes, the Associated Student Body (ASB) and The Loud Crowd Committee, who are responsible for getting students excited and cheering, put in hours of work to make the Den possible. From preparing themes and posters, organizing props and leading chants, their efforts set the tone for Friday night games and create an atmosphere that students look forward to all week.
The Den has become more than just a seasonal football tradition; it is a year-round movement of school pride. Students fill the gym for basketball games and volleyball games to show up and provide their support. Pep rallies, assemblies and school dances also show the same amount of energy as students bring the same excitement that makes the football season so special.
Rijul Kashyap (12), Aliso’s ASB President, shares, “I feel as if most school spirit is brought in from our football games, so this year I want to emphasize school spirit as being part of our school’s culture. Some of my bigger goals this year are working on our rallies, lunchtime activities, dress-up days and more, to get people excited for school and uplift spirit within our culture at Aliso”.
Aliso Niguel High School prides itself on the spirit shown throughout the campus. Having more of these opportunities helps create a sense of community within the school.
ASB’s focus on getting the students to be as involved as possible, especially during the football season, creates a culture of school spirit throughout the year.
Tiam Yagmiz (12), ASB Loud Crowd Commissioner, adds, “The student section brings our community together as competition is county-wide.”
Across Orange County, student sections set the bar high, inspiring students to bring their best spirit every week. This creates a positive environment that fosters competition, resulting in large amounts of school pride.
With the football season just starting, The Den shows no signs of slowing down. With bigger crowds, new themes and more chants, we are expecting an immense amount of spirit from the Wolverines.
