The Aliso Niguel High School Girls Varsity Tennis team is getting ready for another exciting and competitive season while working to enhance their performance in hopes of making it to the California Interscholastic Federation playoffs. While the official league season has yet to start, it is looking hopeful with the team’s preseason record of 2-0. Partially through the season, the record of the varsity team has changed to 5-2.
Team Captain Whitney Luu (11) said, “As a team captain for the next two years, I personally strive to be an inspiring and reliable character for my peers.”
She hopes the season will be another good one and continue the legacy of Aliso Girls Tennis after winning league championships for five consecutive years. The team this year has experience and good leadership that can hopefully bring the team to CIF this year. Luu also shares her excitement about the competition ahead.
“I am most excited to see how some new opponents play, such as Crean Lutheran and Capo Valley,” said Luu. “What I am most anticipating is a rematch with Santa Margarita; we just won against them in our preseason match!”
When asked about her goals for the upcoming season, as well as matches, she is excited. Miah Zhou said, “I used to want to play for college, but I think I mainly just play whenever I can and get whatever I can get as well. I am most excited about our CIF matches because I feel like they are the most intense and our team bond gets stronger.”
