As the 2025-2026 school year starts, Aliso’s football team is back, bringing excitement, energy and school spirit back for Friday night games and a new season. The Aliso Niguel Football team started the new season 2-1 with the first game being a victory over Beckman High School. Since then, football has beaten Chino Hills 52-13 and lost to Capistrano Valley 35-14.
With the continued coaching of Mike Calahan, the Aliso Wolverines simply cannot wait to cheer on their team, hoping for another great season.
With new players joining the team this season, and past senior players having left the team, this season offers a new opportunity for the Wolverines to achieve a high standing in the league.
Asher Youderian (11) said, “We’re all really excited for another amazing season. Can’t wait to be back on the field again.”
The Aliso Niguel Football team will be playing in the Foxtrot League again which consists of the six teams of Aliso Niguel, Dana Hills, Fountain Valley, Laguna Beach, Northwood and Orange.
The first game of this season was against Beckman on Aug. 21. Aliso won 38-3 while also marking a career-high 309 yard pass for the quarterback, Carter Vestermark.
Dane Malloy completed two 59 and 57 yard touchdown passes to give the Wolverines a 14-3 lead. Vestermark ran for a touchdown in the second quarter and the game continued with a 25 yard kick, marking a 24-3 lead after halftime. After touchdowns by Hunter Hagins and Devin Williams, the Wolverines won.
The players of the game were announced as the following: Quarterback Carter Vestermark, CJ Holland, Asher Youderian, Nico Caito and Makai Patopoff.
The game against Beckman was a very important game for Vestermark as he made quite the comeback on the field. Vestermarck has also been selected as the captain of the Aliso team this season by the other players.
The Aliso Team ended the 2024-2025 season with a 7-4 overall and a 3-2 league, placing themselves fourth in the foxtrot lead with wins against: Laguna Hills, Chino, El Toro, Dominguez, Laguna Beach, Orange and Fountain Valley. Additionally, the Aliso team had a 239 state rank and a 3474 National Rank for last season.
This season, Aliso will play the following teams of Chino, Capo Valley, Pacifica, El Toro, Dana Hills, Northwood, Laguna Beach, Orange and Fountain Valley.
The first Aliso home game was expected to take place against El Toro on Fri, Aug. 28. However, the game got postponed due to personal reasons and will now take place on Sept. 27.
After the game against Capo Valley, the next game on the schedule, the Homecoming game, is against Pacifica on Sept. 19.
The game against Dana Hills on Oct. 3 will mark the most exciting upcoming game for Aliso and the Wolverines are all thrilled to watch their team on the field once again.
Xavier Parris (11) said, “We’re mostly excited to play against Dana because we have been rivals for a long time and it’s going to be fun to play against them.”
The Wolverines, with the help of ASB, are excited to be back in the Den once again to support the football team after winning first in the OC student section competition last season.
