Aliso Niguel High School’s Boys Golf team ends the 2025 season on a tie for the League Champion title during their league finals matches last week against Beckman High School.
The League Finals golf match was on May 1, 2025. The match ended with a final score of 196 for the Beckman Patriots and 200 for the Aliso Niguel Wolverines.
Unfortunately, this close match resulted in a tie for the League Championship, marking the end for an exciting season for both teams.
Beckman High School has been a thorn in the side of the Aliso Niguel Boys Golf team all season long. Beckman has also had an amazing season, serving as a main contender in the Southern Section.
Recently, Aliso faced off against Beckman. On April 3, 2025, Aliso took home a close victory scoring a 197 to Beckman’s 198. This near victory signaled to the Aliso golf team that the League Finals match against Beckman would be close.
Prior to the final matches, the Aliso Niguel Boys Golf team was ranked 58 in the South Section of the California Interscholastic Federation. However, neither the team nor any individuals were able to make it to the semifinals of CIF this year.
In the end, the Boys Golf team walked away from their season with an impressive overall score of 12-5 and a League record of 7-1.
Austin Le (11) is a key member of this year’s varsity line up. He remarked that, “This season has been going much better than I expected since all of us are playing our best game.”
Players such as Le and Wyatt Dolby are what gave this year’s team the power behind their swing for the title of League Champions. These underclassmen gave an amazing effort, devoting themselves to improving and honing their golf skills.
This is best seen in the ten players who have lettered this year. On the books, there are around 11 varsity players, but underclassmen were consistently being brought up to play on the highest level, despite their age. This season brought out the best in all players, and the effort of the underclassmen will continue to be seen as they progress through the program in the years to come.
This year’s success can also be attributed to the immense depth of the 2025 Aliso Niguel High School Boys Golf team.
Coach Turney said, “I think it’s just a combination [of factors]. And if anything, we’re just a really deep program this year.”
“Depth” or the amount of players on a team has a large effect on the performance of the team. More players allow for a better supported and rested team as individuals can always fill a spot if the top players need a break or are unable to perform due to injury or sickness. Depth allows a team to keep scoring points even if a couple players are missing.
The high effort of the lower classmen and the depth of this year’s program are a couple of factors that allowed this year’s Aliso Niguel Boys Golf program to tie for the League Champion title.
