On April 17, the Aliso Niguel boy’s varsity team hosted San Clemente High School and played their second-to-last game of the season resulting in a 0-3 loss.
In their first set, Aliso Niguel played a close game; however, they lost 19-25. Currently, San Clemente leads 1-0.
In set number 2, San Clemente won 25-16, leaving Aliso Niguel 11 points too short.
In set three, San Clemente took the game and beat Aliso Niguel 25-14, winning the game 3-0.
Aliso Niguel played San Clemente earlier in the season, on March 20, and lost 3-0 again.
Luke Kesoglou (12) adds, “I am disappointed with the results and outcome of the season. San Clemente is a difficult team and we tried our best on Thursday, but it just wasn’t enough. Hopefully, we can beat them next year.”
In their last game of the season, they played Trabuco Hills High School for the second time, with a close loss of 2-3.
The Wolverines dropped to 6-18 overall and 2-5 standing in the South Coast League. Resulting in 0-7 for league and placed fourth between San Clemente High School, Tesoro High School and Trabuco Hills High School. They are currently ranked 679 overall nationally. The boys put up a tough fight this season and are motivated to do better next year.
Co-captain Griffin Stowe (12) says, “ We didn’t play to our full potential this season like I had hoped, but we still tried. I am going to miss this team and all the memories I have made over the years. I hope next year we can make it farther.”
Throughout the season, the boys volleyball team has put up a strong fight against the other teams, although it did not end the way they had hoped. Next year the team hopes to improve with practice and determination.
