Aliso Niguel had its Class of the Classes pep rally recently on March 17. The rally was hosted in the gymnasium by Aliso’s Associated Student Body (ASB).
ASB’s future President Rijul Kashyap (11) says, “Our pep rallies play a crucial role in bringing the student body together, creating an exciting and energetic atmosphere while also highlighting important upcoming events, like prom. They are designed to foster school spirit and keep students informed about what’s happening on campus.”
The rally was kicked off by the Aliso Niguel drum line and they did not disappoint, successfully catching the attention of the crowd. The class representatives for the rally were Griffin Stowe (12), Nick Peralta (11), Taleyia Gordon (10) and JJ Coachman (9).
Aliso’s choir sang the national anthem in a cappella and received a standing ovation as they were able to harmonize their voices and sounded their best.
The spotlight was then turned to the spring sports as the team captains got to run out onto the floor and represent their team. The sports were introduced by Jack Patterson (11) the athletic director, and Delaney Cramer (11) of the Athletic Committee. Winter sports got an honorable mention as all of Aliso’s winter sports teams made it to CIF this school year.
Aliso’s cheer team put on an amazing performance. Their routine was to the song “BANIT” by Don Toliver and they truly showed off their skills and talent.
The games began with a game of tug of war between the five Senior players and the whole Freshman team. Despite being limited to five players to even out the playing field the seniors won.The next round was between the sophomores and juniors, resulting in a win for the juniors. Finally, in the final round, the juniors went head-to-head with the juniors. The game ended with a win for the seniors.
Aliso’s song team performed to “Glamorous” by Fergie and did not disappoint as they displayed technique and energy throughout their performance. The games continued as contestants from each grade level faced each other in a game of guess that lyric. The game resulted in the juniors stealing the win.
Dance Appreciation performed following the game and displayed their talents to the audience. They danced to a remix of “Crazy In Love” by Beyoncé, “Pon de Replay” by Rihanna, “Say my name” by Destiny’s Child, and “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé.
As the rally came to a close the teams played one last game. The four teams played a round of musical chairs, leaving the seniors with a final win.
ASB deserves recognition for how much work gets put into every event as Kashyap shares, “Clash of classes is one of the most collaborative and labor-intensive events we organize, requiring months of preparation and dedication. Each ASB member makes 15 posters, and the level of teamwork involved truly showcases our commitment to creating a great experience for students.”
The 2025 prom theme was announced at the rally. The theme will be La La Land based on the 2017 Oscar-winning movie. The prom will be on May 3rd at the Orange County observatory.
