This year’s Clash of the Classes occurred from March 17 to the 21. This year’s prom theme was announced as “La La Land,” the dance being held on May 3 at the OC Observatory.
On the days leading up to the pep rally, students were asked to participate in different dress up days to get them excited for the revealing of the prom theme.
Each theme was separated by upperclassmen: Juniors and Seniors, and lowerclassmen: Freshmen and Sophomores.
On the first day of the Clash of the Classes, Juniors and Seniors were asked to dress up as future careers or jobs: lifeguards, lawyers, etc.
Lowerclassmen were supposed to dress up in comfortable clothes, like sweatpants, hoodies or pajamas.
On the second day, Juniors and Seniors were told to wear pink to represent the 2023 film Barbie. Freshmen and Sophomores were told to wear black to represent the Oppenheimer film.
These contrasting themes are used to help create a sense of rivalry between the classes in preparation for the pep rally.
On the third day, March 19, the theme for Juniors and Seniors was “Senior Citizens” where students could wear wigs and make-up to help create each look. The Freshmen and Sophomore theme was “Babies,” to help enunciate the lowerclassmen status.
For the final dress up day, each class was supposed to dress in their class color. Freshmen: yellow, Sophomores: green, Juniors: blue, and Seniors: red.
Although it is typical for the Senior class to win the Clash of the Classes, this year our 2026 graduating class, the juniors, ended up triumphant.
Shiley Moeinzadeh (10) says, “I was at both pep rallies, because of my third period and I was super surprised to see that the seniors didn’t win.”
Moeinzadeh expressed her surprise that the juniors won in both the first and second pep rallies. When asked about the clash of the class’s themes, students had much to say.
Mackenzie Will (10), said that “I feel like a lot of kids didn’t really dress up except for the last day.”
Will thinks that students found it easier to stick to the themes if they were basic and easily divided between each class.
The Wolverines had a successful Clash of the Classes, and the 2026 class will be ready to return next year as the reigning champions.
