With spring break at Aliso Niguel High School approaching in the second week of April, students are making plans on how they will spend this upcoming break. Students are making plans on how they will spend their time away from school.
Some students are using the break as an opportunity to unwind before the final stretch of the academic year. Others are going out on trips, visiting family and friends or indulging in their favourite pastimes. Some students are planning their spring break to enjoy reading literature and making time for their loved ones.
Maria Mishriky (11) says, “For spring break, I am planning on going to many coffee shops and reading mystery-themed books. I am also going to a lot of dog parks with my dog and I plan on watching Arabic television shows.”
Similarly, some students are taking the spring break as a chance to recharge before the demands of state testing for juniors and upcoming AP (Advanced Placement) tests.
Laurel Thurman (11) says, “Just relaxing and enjoying a break before state testing, also hoping to spend some time with family and friends.”
While other students are taking the break as a chance to travel and head out of state.
Ricky Santiago (12) states, “I’m going to go see my boyfriend who lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.”
Some students are planning to stay local and others are heading out of town and state for vacations. There are many popular destinations students can head to such as the beach, mall and other fun places that are around Orange County or in California.
Many students also use the break to catch up on hobbies, get ahead on schoolwork or use the break to prepare for upcoming exams. With the month of May being the month of Advanced Placement (AP) exams and finals, some students are balancing relaxation with academic preparation.
For those who plan on remaining in the area during the break, local events and attractions offer plenty of ways to make the most out of the break. Students who want to mix fun and productivity can make plans to visit beaches, go on hikes and explore local shops such as coffee shops, restaurants or even visit the movie theatre.
The majority of students may take the spring break as a way to catch up on well-needed rest by sleeping in and taking a break from their usual school routines. After months of assignments, exams and extracurricular commitments, the opportunity to slow down is something many students appreciate.
For others, spring break is also a time to reconnect with family members they may not see often during the school year. Whether through family gatherings, day trips or simply spending quality time at home, students are looking forward to strengthening their relationships.
No matter how they choose to spend the week, students are eager for a well-deserved break before returning to finish the school year strong.
