As spring creeps up on students, the excitement for spring break motivates them to get through each school day until then. With a whole week off from school, there are so many different activities students can do. During this year of 2025, however, there are a bunch of new trends for students to try this spring break.
Since its opening on March 1, the Flower Fields in Carlsbad have been an attraction that both locals and tourists have been looking forward to. It is a beautiful place to take pictures or just enjoy sightseeing in. There are new attractions visitors can see this year, which are the Butterfly Encounter, a personal experience guests can have with butterflies, and Glass in Flight, an outdoor sculpture exhibit of birds and insects.
Airoma Cafe in Garden Grove has been a must-go for matcha-lovers for the longest time, as many of its drinks have been rising in popularity. Airoma has a diverse selection of matcha, coffee and teas to choose from. Although lines may be long, good service and quality is ensured along with quickly made drinks.
Kat Tran (12) says, “I’ve been to Airoma Cafe and it has the best matcha. I plan on visiting there again with my friends during spring break.”
Photobooth pictures are all over social media, and one of the most popular and local photobooth spots to go to this spring break is Booth By Bryant. Each photo strip costs $5 and each includes 4 film captures. One of the Booth By Bryants is located at The LAB Anti-Mall in Costa Mesa, which is another fun place to shop, eat and take pictures at.
As spring simmers in, new fashion trends rise, and spring break is an excellent opportunity to shop for new clothes. Key fashion trends this spring are colorful sneakers, mini skirts, boots, button up shirts, chunky jewelry, leather jackets and striped clothing. These essentials are prominently found in thrift stores and swap meets.
For an at-home activity, patch work tops have gone viral on various social media platforms. Seniors have made patch work tops with the college they are going to or their graduation year while many others have made patch work tops with small designs like flowers, stars and hearts. There are many detailed tutorials to watch to make these clothes on TikTok or YouTube.
During spring, the weather is finally getting good enough to go to the beach, and given a whole week provides many chances to go to the beach. Whether it is a quick swim, catching the sunset or sunrise, playing volleyball or tanning, a beach trip for even a day is considered to be therapeutic and would be worth spending spring break in.
Rose Tabatabaei (12) exclaims, “I can’t wait to go to the beach during spring break. It’s been way too long since I’ve had a beach day and spring break is the best and quickest time to have one since I’m so busy during the school week and weekends.”
As spring break trends continue to evolve over the years, the underlying focus of spring break is resting up to get through the next eight weeks of school and making more memories to look back on. Especially since spring break is the last long break until summer break, it is best to make use of the time off and enjoy life.
