The Aliso Niguel boys lacrosse team began their pre-season with a game against San Juan Hills High School on Feb. 12.
The game ended in a win for Aliso and was a great start for the team in seeing how they communicated with each other on the field. The final score of the games ended 19-5.
Aliso played their second game against St. Francis High School on Feb. 18. The game ended in a loss for Aliso of 2-8.
The team’s third game was against Huntington Beach High School on Feb. 20. This game resulted in a loss for Aliso of 8-12.
Aliso went up against Servite High School on Feb. 25. The past two losses fueled the team to come back stronger against Servite. This game resulted in a close win for Aliso of 10-9.
Three-year varsity athlete, Rami Dakak (12), states, “Our win against Servite really proved us as a team. We fought hard to the last second and came away with the win.”
Aliso played Beckman High School on Feb. 27. The team proved their ability to communicate and come together as a team as the final score of the game resulted in a huge win for Aliso of 10-1.
Looking further into the season and league, the lacrosse team is set to play against Beckman High School, King High School, Edison High School, Vista Murrieta High School, Mission Viejo High School, Trabuco Hills High School, Tesoro High School, Canyon High School, San Clemente High School and Santiago High School.
Cade Saito (12) states, “The game we are probably most looking forward to as a team is against San Clemente High School.”
This season the boys lacrosse team moved from playing in the Sea View League, to playing in the Crestview league.
The captains for the 2025 season are seniors Tommy Smith, Irving Pincus, and Rami Dakak.
Pincus states, “We got moved up into a harder league this season, so our biggest goal right now is to win the league.”
The teams’ practices are known to be fast and high intensity.
“We always got music playing and everyone is fired up,” states Dakak.
In addition to this, a drill frequently within practice, known as scrapping, gets both the offense and defense playing hard against each other. This drill helps offense and defense strengthen their plays and be more adaptive for anything to show up during the game.
Dakak states, “Our goal for the season is to win a CIF championship and also win league championship with the new league we are in.”
In the previous years, the team has won the title of league champions and won the CIF Champion title in 2022. The team hopes to do great in the pre-season, carry it on into the league season, and make it far in CIF.
