The Aliso Baseball team leads off the first few games of the 2024-2025 campaign in hopes of propelling a successful spring season.
The Wolverines are aspiring to repeat the footsteps of the memorable 2022-2023 season run where the Wolverines won the CIF Division 3 championships.
Last year, in the 2023-2024 season, the Wolverines ended their season with a winning record of 18-8. In league play, the Wolverines also won the Sea View league as well.
This year, there are a couple of standout players who are looking to help the Wolverines have a successful season.
One of the most notable is senior Jarrett Sabol. Sabol is committed to the University of Southern California and is amongst the top prospects coming out of high school. Sabol’s powerful batting as well as dominance in the outfield will be a strong test to prove to be a successful recipe.
Another one of the most notable players this season is senior and captain Connor Etnire. Etnire is a right-hand pitcher as well as a first baseman. Etnire is currently on fire batting-wise, with a .500 batting average.
Etnire as captain also has strong expectations for the Aliso team. When the Growling Wolverine reached out to speak with Etnire, he had great aspirations for the team.
Etnire shares,“I’m most excited for the chance to win the league three years in a row for the first time in school history. Additionally, my expectations for this team are to do so. I also expect to go on a CIF run again.”
For the first game of the season, the Wolverines had a rough loss to El Dorado away, losing the game 0-8.
The Wolverines bounced back and were very resilient heading into the next game to win greatly 8-1. The Wolverines put up two runs in each of the first three innings, and then Lakewood scored a run in the final inning.
In the third game of the season, the Wolverines lost a close one to Liberty 1-3. This puts the Wolverines record at 0-1 on the road, and 1-1 at home.
In the next couple of games, the Wolverines played against the Narbonne High School Gauchos from La Habra, and then Woodrow Wilson High School. The Wolverines won both of these games, winning 12-6 against Narbonne and then 6-4 against Woodrow Wilson.
The Growling Wolverine newspaper also reached out to senior shortstop Alex Hamada who committed to Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii. Hamada is also batting.500 currently as well.
Hamada states that, “I am most excited to play league games because we just joined a new league this year. I am also most excited to play Dana Hills in the league because they are our school rivals.”
In the final two games up to date, the Wolverines steamrolled both Mission Viejo High School as well as Segerstrom High School 10-0. The Wolverines play against Fountain Valley up next, and then El Toro right after.
