For the past two years, Aliso Niguel’s ASB has hosted an annual dodgeball tournament, in which students compete in groups to win the ultimate tournament.
Faith Huebner (12) took charge of this event this year, building schedules and helping teams in their journeys throughout the tournament.
The games consist of nine groups, all of which compete during lunch periods in the gym. The group includes one captain, five players and one alternate.
The teams competing in these games are: The Dodgefathers, El Lazo Liberators, Trader Joes, Shabllerz, The Ballerz, Dragon Slayers, ASBoys and Chopped Chins.
Players on El Lazo Liberators include: Captain Likish Velieni (12), Rami Dakak (12), Rishi Hariharan (12), Viraaj Kakkad (12), Ivan Kostov (12), Brayden Bogert (12) and Arian Abollahi (12).
On the Shaballerz, players consist of: Captain Luke Avery (11), Gabe Widarto (12), Sammy Zeitawi (11), Yorgos Lepe (11), Shahab Touski (12) and Tyler Vovan (12).
ASBoys features players: Captain Jack Patterson (11), John D’amelio (11), Caleb Comerford (9), Carter Rios (11), Nile Young (12), Rijul Kashyap (11) and Joshua Sohn (9).
Trader Joe’s players: Captain Griffin Stowe (12), Cash Hooper (12), Chase Seager (12), Tate Havranek (12), Greyson Muysa (12), Trever Curameng (12) and Ben Neemon.

Junior Jaslene Massey shares, “I really enjoy how the school hosts dodgeball tournaments during lunch to create larger participation within the school and get people excited about something.”
On Monday, Jan. 27, the first round between Chopped Chins and ASBoys occurred in the big gym.
The game took up the entire lunch period, with peak competitiveness. Due to the game having an unclear ending, the two teams were scheduled to have a rematch a week later with Chopped Chins moving onto the next round.
The next game followed the teams Dragon Slayers and The Ballerz, on Jan. 28. It was a swift game leaving the Ballerz to be the winners of this round.
“I love that people from our school can participate in this and encourage them to do something they enjoy in the school,” shared senior Ariel Christensen.
On Jan. 30, the next games commenced, following the rematch between Chopped Chins and ASBoys.
