Now that the Fall semester of 2024 has come to an end, many students at Aliso have noticed that there was a delay in the grades in Aeries, our online portal where students can check their grades, attendance and more which plays a crucial role in keeping students and parents informed about academic progress. However, this school year, many students have noticed a delay in the report cards with their final grades of the semester, causing anxiety and confusion as they waited for their final grades after taking all their finals.
One of our school counselors Mrs. Whiteside shares, “Delays sometimes happen when a teacher is absent for any reason since it takes more time when submitting their students’ final grades but there is a generous deadline.”
While late grades are not an uncommon occurrence, it was noticed this school year. The delay in posting grades on Aeries has raised concerns among students and parents, who rely on the platform to monitor academic progress and ensure that they are meeting all their graduation requirements. Students have expressed frustration with the delay of the update, particularly as they look ahead to making decisions for the next semester and beyond.
Diba Behbudi (10) shares, “Having the grades posted late had me stressed since there were some classes I really wanted to know how I did in.”
The issue of late Aeries grades is not just an inconvenience; it has real implications for students. For those applying to college, scholarships or any application to something at Aliso, it is important that all applications are submitted on time. Having delayed grades can impact a student’s eligibility, causing additional stress during an already hectic period of final tests and projects.
One of the major concerns for these students is how these delays affect their ability to plan for the future. Without the final grades from the Fall semester, students cannot assess their academic standing and make adjustments to their study habits if needed. In addition, students who rely on their grades for extracurricular activities or sports eligibility may face challenges without a clear picture of their academic performance.
It is also very important to recognize that grade posting delays can occur for several reasons, including technical glitches, administrative issues and those who are busy for the holidays. All of these factors are the main reasons for grades being late at the end of the semester.
Some students have also expressed concern about the accuracy of the grades once they are posted. In a time when so much relies on these grades, accuracy is critical. Mistakes or discrepancies can add to the stress of an already difficult situation. Students are encouraged to double-check their grades once they are posted and reach out to their teachers or counselors if there are any issues.
To make the process easier for everyone, it is important for students to stay proactive. Keeping communication open can help resolve problems faster and ensure that any mistakes are quickly addressed.
While late Aeries grades were an unfortunate challenge last semester, students and teachers are hoping to work together to resolve this issue for this new semester. It is important to keep calm and stay vigilant, knowing that the situation will be addressed. As we move forward, it is hoped that future semesters will see improvements in the timing of grade postings, so students can focus on what matters most, which is their education and future goals.
