At Aliso Niguel High School, students use their lockers for a variety of things, and students don’t even use their lockers at all. However, those who use their lockers find them very useful.
Kelsey Diaz (10) says, “I use it to put my textbooks and my clothes before practice.”
Victoria Vasquez (9) says, “I don’t use my locker, but I see how it could be useful for students who have to carry their textbooks around.”
“Sometimes I use it… If I’m carrying a big item that I won’t be using until the end of the day, then I’ll use it,” says Shiley Moeinzadeh (10).
Maya Tata (10) says, “Last year, my friend would use her locker to store her lunch and coffee mug in the morning.”
Yasi Keyhani (10) says, “I’ve never used it once in my life.”
“I learned how to open the locker for the first time last week,” says Verona Capretta-Rubalcava (10).
Other students, like Lincoln Dickson (10) use their locker completely differently. His locker is dedicated to a senior named Griffon Stoke (12). The locker contains several images of Stoke, surrounded by paper hearts, fake light-up candles, a balloon, a mirror and various other items. Dickson says, “He’s graduating this year, and me and my cousin just wanted to make sure we recognize him, you know?”
Whether they use their locker to store textbooks and sports equipment or use it to honor a graduating senior, the lockers prove a valuable asset to many students.
