From Nov. 19 to Nov. 22 the spirit of giving and community support shines brightly at Aliso Niguel High School (ANHS) as the holiday season approaches. Each year, the school holds its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, an initiative the Associated Student Body (ASB) planned to help local families in need. This cherished tradition highlights the school’s commitment to service and fosters a sense of unity among students, staff and families.
Ms. Ross, ASB’s activities director exclaimed “We are excited to be able to involve our Aliso Niguel community in giving to the community during this Thanksgiving season.”
The ASB has encouraged participation, to collect a substantial amount of non-perishable food items. Students will turn in their canned goods at the designated drop-off location by the flagpole in front of the school.
The ASB is focused on creating excitement surrounding the food drive through engaging promotional campaigns that include colorful posters, social media announcements and announcements during the school’s morning howl. This time of year’s theme is to inspire students to reflect on gratitude and actively engage in their community.
Students can donate a wide range of non-perishable items, including canned vegetables, soups, pasta, rice and other staples. Special emphasis is placed on gathering items that are traditional for Thanksgiving meals, ensuring that donations can be utilized effectively by those in need.
The importance of the food drive extends beyond simply amassing donations; it serves as an invaluable opportunity for students to learn about empathy, compassion and social responsibility. Involving the local community is a crucial aspect of this year’s food drive.
As the ANHS Principal, Dr. Mahindrakar claims, “Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and gratitude and connection with our community.”
As the conclusion of the food drive approaches, anticipation builds for the moment when all the collected items are gathered, counted and packed for distribution. The sight of students cooperating by the flagpole, enthusiastically turning in their donations and working together, is a heartwarming reminder of the difference that community spirit can make.
The annual Thanksgiving Food Drive at Aliso Niguel High School, coordinated by the ASB, is more than just a collection of food; it embodies a heartfelt commitment to community, compassion and the spirit of giving. As students, staff, and families unite to support those in need, they exemplify the values that make the holiday season truly special.
This ambition serves as a powerful reminder that during this time of gratitude, sharing what we have can transform lives and bring hope to those who need it most.
