With Christmas right around the corner, many students have begun re-watching their favorite holiday movies. These movies vary from Christmas classics like “The Grinch” to newer movies like “Violent Night.”
Olivia Trieu (10), says, “My favorite Christmas movie is ‘ELF’ because it’s a Christmas classic and always brings back memories from my younger years.”
Shiley Moeinzadeh (10), says, “My favorite Christmas movie is ‘The Grinch’, the 1966 version, because it has a good message and I have loved it since I was little.”
Victoria Vasquez (9) says, “My favorite Christmas movie is ‘The Grinch,’ which was made in 2018 because I like the Grinch and he really brings me into the Christmas spirit. I like the Grinch’s personality more in this version and the plot.”
Ellen Diaz (10) is also a fan of “The Grinch,” saying, “I really like the movie, the original animated one, because it’s like a Christmas classic, and I love the dog.”
“The Grinch,” no matter the version, is loved by many and is known for its wonderful message and lovable characters.
Diaz is also a fan of the movie “Krampus,” because “it was… a Christmas horror movie and I didn’t see it coming at all and the ending was totally unexpected.”
Another favorite Christmas movie is “Home Alone,” which many students find funny and entertaining.
Verona Capretta-Rubalcava (10) says, “My favorite Christmas Movie is Home Alone because I like watching the child out-smart the criminals.”
Mackenzie Will (10) says, “My favorite Christmas movie has to be Home Alone because the whole story is funny and festive while also being chaotic.”
Vasquez says, “Another favorite of mine is Home Alone because it is a silly movie and I have watched it every year since I was little.”
Despite being released more than 30 years ago, “Home Alone” is still considered one of the classic Christmas movies and is still watched every year by students trying to get in the Christmas spirit.
Jackson Cravens (10) says, “My favorite Christmas movie right now is ‘Violent Night’ as it is like a much more Christmas version of ‘Die Hard’ and it’s super hilarious.”
“Violent Night” was released in December of 2022, and is known for both its humor and having a much different take on Santa Claus compared to other holiday movies.
Despite varying opinions among students on which holiday movie is their favorite, watching Christmas movies is a popular holiday tradition for many students.
