The Aliso Niguel Boys Soccer played their first match against Dana Hills High School at their field on Dec. 2, unfortunately losing 1 to 4.
Aliso currently has an overall record of 1-1 after losing to Dana Hills, but winning against Fountain Valley just two days later.
Their first non-conference match started at 5:15 p.m. sharp at Dana Hills High School. Leading up to the first half, Dana Hills took the lead, scoring two goals.
Aliso created opportunities and openings in the second half but were unsuccessful until Kyle Kakimoto (12) shot right over the goalkeeper’s head, bringing the match to just a one-point difference.
Unfortunately, as the match continued, this seemed not to be enough as Dana proved their elite counterattack, scoring another two goals against the run of play.
This brought Aliso their first loss of the season, a disappointing turnout for their first match.
Dec. 4, Aliso Niguel versus Fountain Valley High School at Aliso Niguel’s field. Their non-conference match started at 5:15 p.m. and was an exciting back-and-forth game.
Eventually, Aliso pulled through, scoring two goals, while Fountain Valley remained at zero. This gave Aliso their much-needed reset from their previous loss against Dana.
Spencer “Harry” Arnold (12) comments, “I think we did pretty decent, we had great aggression, but we could have passed the ball around much better and connected more passes.”
Though the Aliso Boys had a first rough game, their second game against Fountain Valley gave them new hope for the remainder of their season.
