Aliso Niguel’s Boys Cross Country finished their 2024 season which many believed could have gone better.
On Nov. 7 the boys ran their South Coast/Seaview League Finals against Trabuco Hills, San Clemente, El Toro and Dana Hills. All of these teams in their respective order placed higher than Aliso.
The boys anticipated a better race but unfortunately many could not run to their full potential. Parker McAdam (11) came in 10th which was Aliso’s fastest run of the meet and ran a personal record of 15:06.9.
Next followed Faris Radieddine (12) in 14th at 15:17.4 and Lucas Morris (12) in 18th at 15:39.8. After was Edward Hocking (11) in 20th with a time of 15:44.4 then Anderson Blattner (12) with a 15:53.9.
Finally, Karson Brunke (11) and Kaden Christensen (12) were at 16:08.9 and 16:40.1, respectively.
Aliso came in fifth place with 86 points in total which is double the points of Trabuco Hills who placed number one.
For the next eight days, the boys started their taper for their CIF-SS Prelims. This means they slowed down their training, doing fewer miles with a slower pace in order for them to recover and be in the best shape for their most important race.
Friday, Nov. 15-16 are the boys’ CIF-SS Prelims where they ran in the men’s three miles Division 1 Heat 1. All seven of the same boys from the League Finals ran in Varsity.
As before in 15th place, but first for Aliso’s runners, was McAdam with a time of 16:15.4 and just behind Radieddine in 17th at 16:22.2, both totaling 30 points. Next followed Hocking at 16:40.5, Blattner at 16:42.1 and Morris at 16:48.3.
At last, were Brunke at 16:51.8 and Christensen at 17:43.
Aliso Niguel came in 5th place with 128 points behind Beckman, San Clemente, Millikan and Downey.
Brunke comments, “Very, very disappointing season. Never had a personal record, never had a race I could be proud of, never really had a fun race. Had the best workouts I’ve ever had until I got strep a few days before Clovis.”
Although the Aliso boys had a rough end-of-season performance, they all feel accomplished for trying their best throughout the whole season and will work for better results in the future.
