As we approach Thanksgiving break, it is exciting to think about all the different activities to do over the week-long break.
Thanksgiving break is an amazing time for relaxation and spending time with loved ones. Over this holiday, many people enjoy different family-friendly activities. There are many ways to make a long week very fun.
The break will start the week of Nov. 24 through 29 and there is a wide range of activities to do over the week-long break.
Thanksgiving break always happens during the fall season, when the weather is crisp and there are colorful leaves everywhere, making all outdoor activities extra enjoyable. Taking a hike through a nearby park or taking a walk through the woods can make for amazing and peaceful activities.
Most families take advantage of this break for a camping trip with family and friends. If you are not interested in camping, visiting local pumpkin patches and farms will definitely give you the opportunity to connect with nature.
Volunteering is another great activity to do during Thanksgiving break. Volunteering at food banks, shelters, or local libraries can be a cherishable activity over the weekend. Staying more local and organizing fun neighborhood get-togethers can be also meaningful ways to connect with the community.
Staying indoors and spending time with your family is another great option during this holiday. Baking and cooking are fun things to do and help with culinary skills. Thanksgiving break is the perfect time to experiment with different recipes and tastes as well including festive flavors such as pumpkin and pecan. Baking cookies and decorating holiday-themed treats can make fun ways to bond with loved ones.
Another perfect indoor activity is watching seasonal movies and television shows. There are a number of amazing fall movies that are great to watch during Thanksgiving, such as Gilmore Girls and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Thanksgiving celebration wouldn’t be complete without football and the NFL’s annual Thanksgiving Day games. For the fans of the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys, the annual football games make an amazing tradition.
A Spanish teacher at ANHS, Ms.Rodriguez said, “Me and my family travel over Thanksgiving break and come back the day before Thanksgiving day and we look forward to watching the Cowboys and eating food.”
Thanksgiving food without a doubt is the most exciting and important tradition of this holiday and people are usually most excited about all the different classic dishes. With turkey as the centerpiece of the table with a delicious dessert, spending time with family to prepare these dishes can make an amazing activity to do over the break.
