As e-bikes become popular among students, the need for permits is a way to ensure safe and responsible use.
E-bikes are a mode of transportation for many students for school and home. E-bike permits with so much usage come the regulations that address the safety of students, such as helmets. The e-bike permits aim to keep students safe on school grounds as well as outside of school. Understanding the requirements is important for students who to ride safely without any worries, leading to why students and parents must stay informed about the process every year.
Ms. Ferlic, the staff member in charge of e-bike permits in the school office explains, “Students must go to our website, fill out the form, and come back to the office for your bike sticker.”
By picking up your e-bike stickers, your bike is now registered with the school. Safety is a priority and riders are required to wear helmets at all times and walk their bikes while on campus. To be safe, speed limits are enforced based on the type of bike. Students must park their bikes in designated areas in the school and lock them up to prevent theft.
Non-compliance could result in consequences like the school confiscating the bike until it is properly registered with the school.
Ferlic noted that these measures aim to ensure the safety of all students while promoting responsible e-bike use. By following these guidelines, students can enjoy the benefits of riding e-bikes while contributing to a safer school environment.
All bikes are welcome on campus except any dirt bikes and gas-powered bikes as they bring risks to the rider and other students. After getting your e-bike sticker, your bike must be parked in one of the designated areas. These areas include the softball field along the low fence, bike cages behind rooms 510 and 611, and the outdoor racks near the bike cage.
Sanaa Rishi (10) shares, “I think the best part of having an e-bike permit is that I can go anywhere I want while hanging out with my friends.”
E-bikes have become a popular way for students to enjoy time while having fun and staying active with their friends. Riding one of these adds excitement. Students can easily travel from school to home and home to school while still enjoying the fresh air.
While riding e-bikes is enjoyable and easy, students must prioritize safety and proper registration for their specific bikes. Obtaining a permit is essential for ensuring that all students are aware of the rules and regulations. Registering their bikes not only provides peace of mind but also helps maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Safety guidelines, such as wearing helmets, walking bikes on campus and following speed limits, are created to protect both the riders and pedestrians. While following these simple rules, students can continue to have fun while minimizing risks.
Locking up your bike in the designated areas is optional but it is highly recommended to prevent any theft. By using a lock students remain worry-free throughout the day as their bike is safe until after school, allowing students to only focus on having fun.
