On Friday night, the Aliso Niguel High School football team celebrated a thrilling victory against Laguna Beach High School during their highly anticipated Homecoming game. The energy was electric, with the stands packed to the brim with students, alumni and local supporters, all dressed in western-themed attire in line with the night’s theme which was Western Out.
The game itself was intense from the start. Aliso Niguel’s defense played aggressively, successfully keeping Laguna Beach from gaining too much momentum. The victory checked off a week of spirited school activities leading up to the Homecoming game, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. The Wolverines’ victory further solidified their strong performance this season, giving them the boost they needed as they head into the final stretch of games.
In an interview with Jarret Sabol (12), one of the football players on the team he excitedly claimed, “The night couldn’t have gotten any better. It was a well-deserved win for the whole team.”
The halftime show was a vibrant spectacle that showcased the creativity and school spirit of the students from every grade. This year’s theme for the halftime performances was tied into the Western Out theme spirit but with a twist.
Each class presented a dance routine inspired by a famous music artist. The freshman class kicked things off with a lively dance tribute to Taylor Swift. The choreography was filled with energy, featuring a medley of Swift’s most iconic hits. The freshmen had the audience clapping and singing along to fan favorites like Shake It Off.
Next up, the sophomores delivered a spirited performance set to the beats of Drake. Their choreography blended swagger and smooth moves, perfectly capturing the essence of the rapper’s music. Tracks like God’s Plan and Nonstop filled the air as the sophomores earned cheers for their creative transitions and synchronization.
The junior class took the stage after with a Pitbull-inspired performance that had the entire stadium buzzing. Known for his party anthems, Pitbull’s music set the tone for a high-energy dance, complete with flashy costumes and bold moves. The juniors did not disappoint as they danced to hits like Give Me Everything and Fireball, creating an exciting atmosphere that got everyone up on their feet.
In another interview with Ava Menhaji (11), one of the Color Guard members she exclaimed, “All of the performances were great and were properly choreographed. My personal favorite was the senior’s performance dancing to Bruno Mars’s Die With A Smile song.”
Finally, the seniors closed the halftime show with a Bruno Mars-inspired routine that truly stole the show. With Bruno’s funky beats and smooth style, the senior class brought down the house. Their choreographed dance to hits like Die With A Smile and Finesse was polished, and the seniors left a lasting impression on the audience with their tight coordination and dazzling costumes.
Gabby Guilini (11), also claimed, “I loved the dance choreography of the juniors and seniors dances. Bruno Mars was the perfect choice of artist for the senior class; it felt very nostalgic.”
During the halftime show, the Homecoming Court was also announced. This year, the crown for Homecoming King went to Gonzalo Garcia (12), a player on the football team who had already impressed the crowd with his strong performance in the game. Meanwhile, Jovie Becklin (12), a standout member of the cheer team, was named Homecoming Queen, much to the delight of her peers.
Aliso Niguel High School’s Homecoming game and halftime show were a huge success. From the thrilling win on the field to the dazzling performances at halftime, it was a night that students and supporters will not soon forget.
