Every year during homecoming week, ASB plans out dress-up days to pump up school spirit in time for the homecoming game and dance.
These days allow students and staff to participate and dress up according to a theme. These days are meant to be fun for students and allow them to add creativity to their outfits, outside of their usual routine.
These dress-up days foster a sense of school spirit and bring students together as they get a good laugh and memory out of their outfits.
Sophomore, Abby Manzella, shares, “On dress-up days you get to show off your school spirit by dressing up to funny themes. My favorite part is being able to wear fun outfits with my friends”.
This year Aliso’s themes are Pajama Day, Jersey Day, Rhyme with no Reason, Adam Sandler day and Favorite celebrity day.
Starting off the week with Pajama day, students came to school wearing their favorite pajamas and felt much comfort when entering the week. With relaxation in their clothes, students felt relaxed in each class and were able to show off their school spirit in their sweats.
All students have a favorite sports team, player or even just a sport. Although teams and players may be a controversial topic with some students, Jersey Day was not.
Students rocked their Tuesdays sporting their favorite jerseys and shared their sports love.
“My favorite thing about dress-up days is the creativity you can use to put together all the outfits. I enjoy seeing everyone laughing and having fun,” shares Abigail Kirland (10).
Rhyme with no reason has been a recent social media sensation, getting duos involved in collaboration and ultimately letting creativity grow immensely. This day was made for students to find a partner and dress as two things that rhyme with no connection whatsoever. Whether it be “Santa and Fanta” or “Harry Potter and Fly Swatter” Aliso students worked together to create an unforgettable rhyme with no reason Wednesday.
Adam Sandler has been a beloved celebrity to Gen Z. With his casual attire for any occasion, Aliso students took on his slacks and button-downs to the classroom.
From gym shorts and a Hawaiian shirt to oversized shirts and a backward baseball cap, Thursday was a day spent in the shoes of the multi-millionaire and the comfort that came with being in his shoes.
Friday set off one final bang before the homecoming game, and students can take any celebrity they love and dress as them. From Bruno Mars’ red satin pajamas to Pitbulls’ iconic baldhead students went all out to look like their favorite celebrities.
These dress up days are extremely empowering for school spirit and allow all students to participate.
With the increased participation and creativity of students, Aliso Niguel High School’s students took homecoming week dress-up days to a new level and created an uplifting environment for this homecoming season.
